This role supervises produce department employees, manages ordering and pricing, and works to maximize sales and profitability. Key Responsibilities Manage the day-to-day operations of the produce department. Order, receive, inspect, and stock fruits, vegetables, and other fresh products. Monitor inventory levels and minimize shrink, waste, and spoilage. Create attractive merchandise displays that drive sales and maintain product freshness. Ensure proper product rotation using FIFO (First In, First Out) methods. Maintain department cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards. Train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate produce department staff. Provide excellent customer service and resolve customer concerns promptly. Monitor department sales, margins, and labor costs to meet company goals. Set pricing, promotional displays, and signage according to company guidelines. Ensure compliance with company policies, health regulations, and safety procedures. Collaborate with store leadership to achieve operational and financial objectives. Experience in business, retail management, or related field preferred. 2-5 years of produce or grocery retail experience. Previous supervisory or management experience preferred. Knowledge of fresh produce handling, storage, and merchandising techniques. Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to operate inventory management systems and point-of-sale equipment. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods. Ability to work in refrigerated environments. Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
