A Retail Associate Manager assists the manager at a retail store, either an independent business or a store that is part of a large retail chain. Supervises sales associates and retail store operations. Reviews and monitors merchandise sales, inventory and prices, and directs advertising and promotions. May prepare work schedules and hire, train and evaluate sales associates. May supervise warehouse, cleaning, maintenance or security staff. Assists with resolving customer complaints.
Assistant Store Manager•Mill Valley Margaret O'Leary | Mill Valley Margaret O'Leary is looking for a full-time Assistant Store Manager to join our Mill Valley boutique. We're looking for someone who loves retail, enjoys working with clients, and is ready to take on a meaningful leadership role within the store. You'll work closely with the Store Manager to support the team, grow the business, and make sure the store is running beautifully day to day. This is a hands-on role for someone who is comfortable wearing a lot of different hats. One moment you may be styling a client or coaching a team member, and the next you may be receiving inventory, working through an operational task, merchandising a new delivery, or handling whatever else the day brings. You should be equally comfortable in front of clients and behind the scenes—and confident taking the lead when the Store Manager isn't there. This is a full-time position, typically 4-5 days per week. Availability on Sundays and Mondays is required. What You'll Do As Assistant Store Manager, you'll partner closely with the Store Manager while also being comfortable stepping up and leading the store independently when needed.
You'll:
Build genuine, lasting relationships with clients through personal service, styling, and thoughtful follow-up Actively contribute to sales and help keep the team focused on daily and weekly goals Coach and support Key Holders and Sales Associates Help create a positive, engaged team environment with clear expectations and strong communication Take an active role in merchandising and maintaining a beautiful, inviting store Partner with the Store Manager on inventory, receiving, transfers, and other day-to-day operational and back-of-house responsibilities Help maintain strong operational standards and make sure the details don't get missed Support client outreach and local relationship-building within the Mill Valley community Take initiative, identify what needs attention, and help find solutions Confidently run the store independently when the Store Manager is not present What We're Looking For You're someone who likes being part of the action and is comfortable shifting gears throughout the day. You enjoy working with people, have a strong eye for detail, and take just as much pride in what's happening behind the scenes as you do in the client experience. Schedule:
Full-time, 4-5 days per week. Sunday and Monday availability required.
