Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Shop Manager to lead our service and maintenance operations. In this pivotal role, you will oversee daily shop activities, coordinate heavy equipment and vehicle repairs, and ensure that all machinery operates at peak performance. Your leadership will drive efficiency, safety, and quality standards across the shop, fostering a team-oriented environment that emphasizes continuous improvement. This position offers an exciting opportunity to manage a diverse range of equipment including heavy trucks, industrial equipment, different trailer configurations and automotive systems, ensuring seamless operations and exceptional customer service. Responsibilities Supervise daily shop operations, including scheduling repairs, maintenance, and equipment diagnostics to meet operational deadlines. Oversee the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment such as tractors, trailers and other industrial machinery using schematics and technical manuals. Coordinate with technicians on complex mechanical systems repair including transmissions, hydraulics, suspensions, air brakes, and electrical systems for vehicles. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and industry standards by conducting regular safety inspections and promoting a safety-first culture among staff. Manage inventory levels for parts, tools, and supplies necessary for equipment repair and maintenance activities. Provide technical guidance to team members on engine diagnostics, welding, power tools usage, tire service, and general equipment maintenance. Maintain detailed records of repairs, service histories, and shop activities to support operational efficiency and accountability. Qualifications Proven experience managing a dealership, automotive repair shop or private fleet with strong knowledge of heavy equipment operation and vehicle maintenance. Extensive background in fabrication, welding, mechanical systems repair (including transmissions, diesel engines, suspension), and automotive electrical systems. Hands-on experience with heavy machinery such as forklifts, tractors-trailers; familiarity with schematics is essential. Mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, shocks & struts; ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues. Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment and performing vehicle diagnostics for trucks and other vehicles used by drivers. Ability to lift heavy objects safely during tire service or equipment repairs; excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Strong customer service orientation with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members.
