Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Mechanic Shop Manager to lead our automotive and heavy equipment repair operations. In this pivotal role, you will oversee daily shop activities, coordinate maintenance and repair services, and ensure the highest standards of quality and safety. Your leadership will drive efficiency, foster a team-oriented environment, and uphold exceptional customer service. This position offers an exciting opportunity to manage a diverse range of mechanical systems, from light vehicles to industrial machinery, while maintaining a focus on operational excellence. Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate daily shop operations, including scheduling repairs and managing workflow to meet deadlines. Lead a team of skilled mechanics, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to optimize productivity. Oversee the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a wide variety of vehicles and equipment such as trucks, forklifts, excavators, cranes, farm machinery, and industrial equipment. Ensure all repairs adhere to manufacturer specifications and safety standards by interpreting schematics and technical manuals. Manage inventory levels for parts, tools, and supplies essential for efficient shop functioning. Maintain detailed records of repairs performed, parts used, and service histories for each vehicle or piece of equipment. Promote a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols related to heavy lifting, welding, electrical systems, hydraulics, and other mechanical processes. Requirements Proven experience in dealership or heavy equipment shop management with strong mechanical knowledge across various systems including transmissions, hydraulics, air brakes, suspension, and electrical systems. Extensive hands-on experience with fabrication, welding, soldering, and the use of power tools in repair tasks. Familiarity with automotive diagnostics software and schematics for troubleshooting complex vehicle systems. Ability to operate heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers safely and efficiently. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team of mechanics while fostering a positive work environment. Excellent organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail. Knowledge of dealership procedures related to vehicle maintenance for truck drivers and fleet management is highly desirable. Valid certifications in heavy truck repair, diesel mechanics, HVAC systems (if applicable), or automotive electrical systems are preferred.
