Job Description

Job Overview The Hides Supervisor oversees the management and operation of the hide house at Florida Beef. This position is responsible for hide handling, curing (inclusive of continual water salinity management in the hide house raceways), inventory control, proper operation of equipment, preparation of hides for shipment and team performance. Responsibilities Manage the daily operation of the hide house, including intake from the harvest floor, curing in the raceways, pulling from the raceways, wringing, bagging, pressing, and preparing hides for shipment Maintain and turn in accurate daily records of hides dropped into each raceway, pulled from each raceway and inventory within the raceway Maintain proper salinity levels in both raceways to ensure hides are cured correctly and don't spoil. Oversee the proper addition and distribution of salt when required Measure and report on salinity levels in both raceways at least twice daily utilizing proper measurement techniques Immediately notify maintenance and management of any mechanical failures with the paddle wheels in either raceway, the wringer or the press, or of any flooding in the area Once per month on a weekend, drain each raceway completely of all water and empty all remaining hides out of the empty raceway Ensure no overflow of brine water into the plant's broader water treatment system and ensure systems in place are properly working to capture brine water produced during wringing and pressing into dedicated storage tanks before hauling off the property Ensure preventive maintenance on greasing of gearboxes, chains and forklifts components is completed timely. Generally ensure that forklifts are well maintained. Pay:
From $18.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 50.0 per week
