Job Description
Description Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we've designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers, from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.
Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Key job responsibilities- Lead a team of technicians as the subject matter expert on all processes within your area of responsibility
- Champion safety requirements in all designated zones and work locations
- Successfully lead process work and review for quality and adherence to standards and procedures.
- Independently execute and prioritize work to meet production schedules
- Integration and test of the Leo satellite and various complex subassemblies in a cleanroom and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) controlled environment
- Rigging and critical lifts of bulky, sensitive flight hardware
- Able to obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits, and/or certifications as required.
- Use precision calibrated tools
- torque wrenches, multimeters, optical inspection devices, micrometers, and dial calipers
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Perform work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions
- Run functional and environmental testing on units, including some basic troubleshooting operations
- Use computer software programs for running tests
- Check and inspect your work after completion to ensure engineering and quality standards are met per the drawing and work instruction requirements
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to develop and document activities, including continuous improvement opportunities
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient, safe and effective work environment
- Shift schedule will be primarily be on second shift but can vary, depending on production/launch schedules.
- Must be willing and able to perform extended travel up to 25% annually, either domestically or internationally as business needs demand.
- High school or equivalent diploma, or Associate's degree
- Experience with precision torque, measurement and inspection devices (i.e., automated and manual torque wrenches, calipers, micrometers, profilometers, optical inspection devices, multi-meters, torque wrenches)
- 4+ years of experience in mechanical or electrical hardware assembly, test, and/or installation
- 2+ years of experience operating and directing cranes
- 2+ years of experience working with rigging equipment
- Able to obtain and maintain a US Passport and must meet customs entry requirements to include but not limited to: Yellow Fever vaccine and other immunization requirements as recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
- Able to pass Kennedy Space Center background checks Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing operations environment
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Experience in the aerospace industry, automotive industry, medical device industry, aviation, military or other high-reliability operating environment
- Experience in a fast-paced processing environment
- Experience working with Foreign Object Debris (FOD), ESD sensitive hardware, and clean room requirements
- 6+ years of experience with forklifts, cranes, rigging, and heavy equipment (including previous certifications)
- A demonstrated ability in reading/understanding technical drawings, work instructions and standard operating procedures
- Ability to use multiple types of precision measuring instruments
- Able to stand for long periods of time and perform repetitive assembly operations
- Able to climb and down ladders, work in tight spaces, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
