Job Description

Indian River Transport , an industry leader in food-grade liquid bulk transportation, is seeking an experienced Trailer Shop Manager to oversee the daily operations of our Winter Haven, FL trailer maintenance facility. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring all trailers are maintained to DOT and company standards while managing personnel, productivity, workflow, and quality control.
What You'll Do:
Manage day-to-day operations of the trailer shop, including scheduling, repair oversight, and resource allocation. Supervise trailer technicians and support staff, providing leadership, training, and performance management. Ensure all trailer maintenance and repairs are performed in compliance with DOT regulations, OSHA standards, and company policies. Conduct regular inspections of work quality and adherence to safety procedures. Oversee preventive maintenance schedules, repair orders, and parts inventory management. Coordinate with Operations, Safety, and Breakdown teams to prioritize and expedite trailer repairs. Review maintenance logs, identify repeat issues, and recommend solutions to reduce equipment downtime. Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant shop environment. Manage vendor relationships and monitor outsourced trailer services when necessary. Track labor hours, cost efficiency, and shop productivity through maintenance software systems.
What We're Looking For:
5+ years of trailer maintenance experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role. Strong working knowledge of
DOT/FMCSA
trailer regulations, especially tanker trailers (preferred). Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Hands-on technical knowledge of trailer systems (brakes, lighting, suspension, air systems, etc.). Experience using maintenance software (e.g., TMW, AS400, or other fleet maintenance platforms). Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly to changing priorities. Must be safety-minded with a strong commitment to compliance and quality.
