This role is vital in ensuring the freshness, quality, and presentation of produce items while maintaining optimal inventory levels and customer satisfaction. As Produce Manager, you will lead a team dedicated to operational excellence, merchandising, and efficient store management. Duties Manage all aspects of produce department operations, including stocking, merchandising, and inventory control to ensure product freshness and quality. Supervise and train staff on proper product handling, customer service standards, and safety protocols. Oversee purchasing and procurement processes to maintain appropriate stock levels while minimizing waste. Implement effective pricing strategies and promotional displays to maximize sales and profitability. Utilize POS systems for sales transactions, inventory tracking, and reporting. Conduct regular inventory audits, manage stock rotation, and coordinate with suppliers for timely deliveries. Lead shift management by delegating tasks, monitoring performance, and ensuring smooth daily operations. Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations, sanitation standards, and store policies. Develop staff through ongoing training & development initiatives focused on retail sales techniques and product knowledge. Handle customer inquiries or complaints professionally to enhance shopping experience. Collaborate with management on budgeting, sales goals, and operational improvements. Experience Proven supervisory experience within a retail environment, preferably in grocery or produce departments. Extensive knowledge of produce products, inventory management systems, POS technology, and retail math. Demonstrated skills in negotiation, purchasing, merchandising, and inventory control. Experience in employee orientation, interviewing, recruiting, payroll processing, bookkeeping, and cash handling. Strong leadership abilities with excellent managerial communication skills; capable of managing diverse teams effectively. Familiarity with retail industry sales team management experience is preferred. Multilingual or bilingual abilities are advantageous for serving diverse customer bases. Prior experience with operational management tasks such as budgeting, shift scheduling, training & development is highly desirable. Ability to utilize basic math skills accurately for pricing calculations and stock assessments. Knowledge of grocery store operations including cashiering procedures and wireless sales systems enhances overall performance.
