Job Description:
The Department Supervisor (Warehouse) is responsible for maintaining a safe department at all times, leads by example, and must wear all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing all duties. They must also ensure that the employees they supervise do the same, and they must stop work immediately and implement corrective action if they observe any non-compliance. Operates warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment as needed to support daily operations. Performs hands-on tasks including loading/unloading materials, organizing inventory, and verifying shipment accuracy. Oversees and assists with daily inventory management activities including cycle counts, stock rotation, and reconciliation of discrepancies. Monitors warehouse workflow, ensuring optimal layout and efficient movement of materials to support production needs. Immediately reports all accidents as well as near miss incidents to the Manager and/or EHS personnel. Actively participates in investigative and prevention activities to ensure similar incidents do not reoccur. Collaborates with Human Resources and Environmental, Health & Safety departments to train and assist in acclimating newly hired employees in the department's daily operations, goals, and general expectations of the company, as well as ongoing (monthly) safety training per EHS. Follows an operational schedule, reviewing and adjusting schedules where needed. Completes all operational reporting as required, as well as administrative timekeeping duties. Oversees and directs daily operations of the team to meet output goals, stepping in to support team tasks when needed. Assigns work orders to appropriate team members as appropriate to meet customer commitments. Ensures quality through routine checks and strict process adherence. Monitors inventory levels and requests parts and supplies as needed. Provides leadership and guidance to ensure work performed meets customer and/or service order requirements. Monitors and evaluates staff performance, providing coaching and feedback as necessary. Clearly communicates goals, expectations, and provides timely feedback to staff. Interacts with customers as needed to provide status updates, obtain additional information, and ensure overall satisfaction. Provides daily status updates to management on progress of work orders. Works with appropriate team members to resolve issues or request support as needed. Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager. Education and/or
Work Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or a 2-year technical degree preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or warehouse/production environment. Hands-on experience operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment required. Proficient in MS Office, Outlook, and Teams. Must be adaptable to changes in the work environment, comfortable with multiple competing demands, and able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events in a calm and logical manner. Strong leadership, communication, organizational skills, and a safety-first mindset. Prior experience with 5S and lean manufacturing principles. Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred. Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced warehouse/manufacturing environment.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements:
While performing duties, you must be able to sit, stand, talk, hear, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Ability to work standing or in a crouched position for long periods of time. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to operate material-handling equipment and work in various warehouse conditions including varying temperatures and noise levels.
