Retail Operations Manager

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Retail Operations Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing the day-to-day operations of multiple retail convenience store locations. This position provides strategic leadership in operations, merchandising, inventory management, marketing, customer experience, and employee development to ensure stores operate efficiently, profitably, and in compliance with company standards. The Retail Operations Manager works closely with store managers and cross-functional departments to drive sales growth, maximize operational performance, and deliver exceptional customer service while supporting the company's long-term strategic objectives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Retail Operations Leadership Provide leadership and oversight for the daily operations of multiple retail stores to maintain store appearance, coordinate facility maintenance, and support store improvement initiatives to create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for customers and team members. Ensure consistency in operational execution and compliance with company policies across all store locations. Collaborate with store managers and department leaders to improve operational efficiency and productivity. Optimize store layouts, merchandising standards, and workflows to improve customer experience and operational efficiency. Ensure compliance with all company policies, food safety, health, and environmental regulations. Respond appropriately to operational emergencies and provide leadership during crisis situations. Analyze sales reports, financial statements, labor costs, inventory performance, and market trends to identify opportunities for improvement. Develop long-term operational strategies to increase sales, profitability, and operational efficiency. Manage promotional budgets while maintaining quality standards and maximizing return on investment. Recommend pricing, merchandising, and promotional strategies to increase profitability. Inventory & Merchandising Oversee inventory management programs to ensure product availability while minimizing shrink and inventory losses. Ensure proper execution of merchandising standards and promotional displays. Work with vendors and suppliers to support merchandising initiatives and inventory needs. Marketing & Customer Experience Develop and execute retail marketing initiatives that increase customer traffic and sales. Coordinate in-store promotions, seasonal campaigns, and community marketing events. Assist with digital marketing initiatives including social media, email marketing, and online promotions. Ensure brand consistency throughout all customer touchpoints. Monitor customer feedback and implement strategies to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty. Resolve escalated customer concerns promptly and professionally. Leadership & Talent Development Recruit, hire, train, coach, and develop retail management and store personnel. Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and professional development. Build a positive, high-performing culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and customer service. Identify succession planning and employee development opportunities. Provide guidance and support to store managers in employee relations and performance management. Vendor & Supplier Management Evaluate and select vendors that support operational objectives. Negotiate contracts and pricing where appropriate. Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and service providers. Coordinate vendor performance and ensure service expectations are met. Coordinate with management and vendors on regular equipment maintenance. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in business administration, Retail Management, Marketing, Finance, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered. Experience Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible retail management experience. Multi-store retail management experience preferred. Convenience store experience strongly preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong knowledge of retail operations, merchandising, inventory control, and customer service principles. Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams. Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze financial reports, sales trends, and operational data. Excellent organizational, planning, and project management skills. Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships. Results-oriented with a demonstrated ability to achieve sales and operational goals. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and retail point-of-sale systems. Knowledge of cash handling procedures and secure banking practices. Ability to independently analyze situations and take appropriate action. Strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds occasionally. Ability to bend, reach, kneel, and perform other physical activities associated with retail operations. Ability to travel regularly between retail locations. Working Conditions Work is performed in retail store environments and office settings. Frequent travel between company locations is required. Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional emergency call-ins as business needs require.

Pay:
$65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
