Join our team and oversee the full operation of our Front End, ensuring smooth checkout flow, outstanding service, engaged staff, and efficient daily operations that reflect the Co-op's values. Responsibilities and Duties Manage hiring, training, scheduling, and performance of Front End staff to ensure strong coverage and high-quality service. Lead the department in achieving sales, labor, and margin goals set by Senior Leadership, focusing on efficiency, quality, and productivity. Provide leadership, coaching, and accountability that uphold Co-op values and deliver world-class customer service. Ensure compliance with all cash handling procedures, check receiving, alcohol regulations, and operational policies. Monitor cashier accuracy, safe balancing, and daily deposits to maintain financial integrity. Promote membership sign-ups, Round Up donations, and customer engagement in Co-op programs while modeling exceptional service. Oversee department cleanliness and organization, including the Front End, foyer, eating areas, and restrooms. Collaborate with other department leaders to support store-wide operations, promotions, and events. Prepare and communicate daily huddles, assign registers and tasks, and ensure efficient and smooth shifts. Attend meetings, communicate company goals and safety practices, and take on new responsibilities as needed to support department success. Qualifications and Skills Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Excellent communication abilities that foster a welcoming experience for customers and staff. Ability to handle complex issues, employee concerns, and operational challenges with fairness and professionalism. Leadership courage and accountability to maintain high standards and strong team performance. Comprehensive knowledge of Front End operations with the ability to anticipate needs and resolve issues proactively. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and adapt to shifting priorities. Calm, objective approach to problem-solving and decision-making under pressure. Self-motivation, attention to detail, and commitment to quality and productivity. Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Sound judgment and decision-making aligned with Co-op values. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent. 3+ years of experience as a Department Manager in a retail environment required. Must successfully complete a criminal background check. Physical Demands This position requires sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a grocery store setting, including standing or sitting for prolonged periods, occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, twisting, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Repetitive hand and arm movements, use of step stools or ladders, and proper PPE when using appliances and equipment are required. Working Environment Work is performed primarily in a grocery store setting with extensive public contact and frequent interruptions.
