Bakery Team Members & Keyholders during assigned shifts Position Summary The Nothing Bundt Cakes (NbC) Assistant Manager is a hands-on working leadership position responsible for supporting the Bakery Manager/Lead Operator in maintaining strong daily operations, team performance, guest experience, and brand standards. This is not a primarily administrative or supervisory position. Assistant Managers are expected to work alongside the team and remain actively involved in bakery operations, including guest service, frosting, crafting, cleaning and sanitation, production support, opening and closing responsibilities, and other operational needs. The Assistant Manager serves as the Bakery Manager's primary leadership support and helps maintain consistency and accountability throughout the bakery. They are responsible for helping direct daily workflow, coaching and developing team members, reinforcing expectations, solving operational problems, and ensuring tasks are completed accurately and efficiently. Successful Assistant Managers lead by example. They move with urgency, communicate clearly, remain composed under pressure, and are comfortable providing direction and holding team members accountable while maintaining a positive and respectful work environment. This role is ideal for an experienced team member, Keyholder, or emerging leader who is ready for increased responsibility and people leadership while continuing to work actively on the bakery floor. Accountabilities/DutiesI. Team Leadership & Development Leads from the floor and actively works alongside Team Members and Keyholders to maintain productivity, urgency, and operational flow. Helps direct daily workflow, assign responsibilities, and adjust priorities based on guest demand, production needs, staffing, and business conditions. Clearly communicates expectations and follows up to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed accurately and on time. Provides real-time coaching, instruction, recognition, and constructive feedback to Team Members and Keyholders. Helps train and cross-train team members across bakery positions and reinforces proper procedures and NbC standards. Identifies performance, attendance, communication, or conduct concerns and communicates them promptly to the Bakery Manager. Supports the Bakery Manager in maintaining a culture of accountability, teamwork, reliability, professionalism, and high performance. Leads by example through work ethic, attitude, communication, appearance, punctuality, and adherence to bakery standards. Helps maintain productive shift transitions by clearly communicating outstanding tasks, operational concerns, staffing issues, and other important information to leadership. II. Bakery Operations Supports all areas of bakery operations, including guest service, frosting, crafting and decorating, cleaning and sanitation, production support, order fulfillment, and general operational responsibilities. Opens and closes the bakery according to established procedures and ensures all required tasks are completed accurately and within expected timeframes. Maintains awareness of daily and upcoming orders and ensures orders are properly completed, organized, and prepared for scheduled pickup or delivery. Helps monitor product, packaging, retail, and operational inventory and communicates shortages or concerns before they affect bakery operations. Assists with inventory counts, product rotation, par levels, receiving deliveries, and preparation of supply or product orders as assigned by the Bakery Manager. Maintains bakery cleanliness, organization, merchandising, food safety, and brand presentation standards throughout the shift. Monitors workflow during high-volume periods and reallocates team members or priorities when necessary to maintain efficiency and guest service. Ensures opening, shift, and closing checklists are completed thoroughly rather than simply marked complete. Supports proper cash-handling procedures, drawer balancing, deposits, and other opening or closing financial responsibilities as assigned. Identifies operational problems quickly, takes appropriate action within the scope of the role, and escalates larger concerns to the Bakery Manager. III. Guest Experience Models warm, professional, and efficient guest service and ensures team members consistently follow NbC guest experience standards. Assists with escalated guest concerns and works to de-escalate situations professionally. Gathers complete and accurate information when a guest concern requires further management involvement and communicates that information promptly to the Bakery Manager. Uses appropriate judgment to resolve routine guest concerns within established guidelines while escalating situations outside their authority. Maintains strong product knowledge and supports team members in accurately answering guest questions and fulfilling special orders. Education, Certifications and Work Experience Requirements Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. 2 years minimum previous bakery, restaurant, retail, hospitality, or foodservice experience is required. 2 years minimum previous supervisory, or management experience is required. Demonstrated reliability, accountability, communication skills, and ability to perform successfully in a fast-paced environment. Food safety certification or willingness to obtain required certification within the established timeframe. Previous experience training, coaching, or directing team members is a plus. Work Availability Must have the flexibility to work various shifts, including opening and closing shifts, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on changing business demands. Assistant Managers must maintain sufficient scheduling flexibility to support bakery leadership and operational coverage.
Pay:
