Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Shop Manager specialized in Class 8 Diesel Trucks to lead our service and maintenance operations. In this pivotal role, you will oversee daily shop activities, coordinate a team of skilled technicians, and ensure the highest standards of vehicle repair, safety, and customer satisfaction. Your expertise in Class 8 diesel truck diagnostics, and repair will drive efficiency and quality in our service department. This position offers an exciting opportunity to manage a busy shop environment while maintaining a focus on safety, productivity, and technical excellence. Duties Lead and supervise the shop team to ensure timely and accurate repair of Class 8 diesel trucks and related heavy equipment. Develop, implement and oversee training and continuous improvement programs for all employees. Work on recruiting and retention programs ensuring proper staffing levels are achieved and maintained. Oversee vehicle maintenance tasks including engine repairs, transmission servicing, brake systems, suspension, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Review schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic data to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues effectively. Manage inventory levels for parts, tools, and supplies essential for daily operations; ensure proper maintenance of all shop equipment. Ensure compliance with safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation, air brake systems, welding procedures, and general shop safety standards. Foster excellent customer service by communicating repair statuses clearly and providing professional guidance to clients regarding vehicle maintenance needs. Skills Proven dealership experience with heavy trucks or similar commercial vehicles. Extensive knowledge of diesel engine repair, transmissions, suspensions, brakes (including air brakes), hydraulics, and vehicle electrical systems. Skilled in diagnostic software; familiar with schematics interpretation. Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by experience in fabrication and equipment repair. Familiarity with diagnostics tools for troubleshooting complex vehicle systems. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively while maintaining high safety standards.
