Ascension School is searching for a warm, caring, dedicated after-school caregiver to oversee our Extended Day team. The Extended Day Supervisor will report to the School Operations Manager and School Principal.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years of age Experience from volunteering or working with and monitoring school-aged children in an organized work setting (ages 3-14) Strong organizational and communication skills are important Ability to supervise other caregivers Must complete Virtus training and maintain with online training (typically 1 a month) Ability to pass first aid, CPR, asthma, and concussion certifications Ability to pass background checks and drug tests Strong working knowledge of childhood development Physical fitness and the ability to perform tasks such as sitting on the floor, bending, and lifting children Creativity and a willingness to sing, dance, and be silly and fun-loving with children
General Responsibilities:
Supervision of Staff Create bi-weekly staff schedules Ensure workers have access to and complete timecards with help from Business Manager Co-lead staff meetings and trainings for EDP staff with Principal as needed Communicate policy, school calendar and updates to EDP workers Help staff to understand and implement appropriate child-care practices Report any staff performance issues to the Principal Programmatic Planning and Implementatio n Create a daily plan for children to follow, including snacks, homework time, outdoor play, and indoor activities Plan seasonal activities Ensure a safe, sanitary, and orderly environment Ensure with the assistance of School Operations Manager that families enroll, check-in/out and pay through FACTS Manage student schedules Take daily student attendance and help with homework if needed Ensure students and workers understand and adhere to program rules and procedures Organize, facilitate, and monitor the activities of children enrolled in their assigned areas Monitor and interact with students to keep students engaged in creative, artistic, and physical activities Assist in resolving student disputes; refer serious discipline problems to the principal Communication Prepare a monthly Newsletter for parents Communicate all schedule/calendar information specific to EDP with parents and staff Communicate with parents, as needed, regarding any issues that arise during Extended Day Report any injuries or behavior issues related to students to the Principal as soon as possible Report any injuries or job performance issues related to staff to the Principal as soon as possible EDP is available to students before and after school; 7a.m
