Job Description
Organic Garden and Greenhouse Production Manager Carlson Old Fashioned Farms is a regenerative, certified-organic farm producing grass-fed dairy, pasture-raised beef, eggs, meat chickens, and year-round garden and greenhouse crops for direct farm-to-table delivery. We're looking for an experienced Garden and Greenhouse Production Manager to build and run our organic produce operation from the ground up — from soil and infrastructure through harvest, packing, and delivery to our members and clients. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can plan a growing season, manage a crew, keep organic certification airtight, and get fresh produce safely into customers' hands year-round. What You'll Do Plan and manage organic production across open gardens and multiple greenhouses year-round Design garden/greenhouse layout, irrigation systems, and water infrastructure (wells, storage tanks) Select crops and varieties; build planting, rotation, and harvest schedules Maintain organic certification compliance, recordkeeping, and input approvals Manage soil health through composting, cover crops, mulching, and amendments Run an organic integrated pest management (IPM) program Oversee greenhouse climate, propagation, and cold-weather production Build and manage wash, pack, cooling, storage, and food-safety procedures Handle labeling, traceability, and delivery/order prep for client and membership distribution Hire, train, schedule, and supervise garden/greenhouse staff Manage budget, purchasing, and inventory for the produce operation Support integration with vermicomposting and other farm waste streams Help maintain visitor and educational garden spaces
