Position:
Manager‑in‑Training (MIT) Overview The Manager‑in‑Training (MIT) role is a hands‑on leadership position designed to prepare individuals for a Store Manager role with American Rental Home Furnishings. This position carries significant responsibility and requires strong leadership, customer service, and operational skills. The MIT will receive structured training at our Columbus and/or Seymour , Indiana locations and is expected to lead by example in every aspect of store operations. Key Responsibilities Lead by example in customer interactions, including answering questions, resolving concerns, selling products, handling payments, and maintaining showroom displays Motivate, direct, coordinate, and evaluate store associates to ensure strong performance and customer satisfaction Maintain a friendly, enthusiastic, and professional attitude at all times Assist customers with questions, concerns, or complaints in a courteous and solution‑focused manner Ensure the store meets or exceeds sales targets and performance goals Analyze sales data and develop forecasting strategies and future sales goals Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills Complete store operational requirements, including scheduling, assigning employees, and monitoring performance Support recruiting, selecting, onboarding, training, and developing store associates Maintain appropriate inventory levels to ensure merchandise and services are available Build strong customer relationships to identify both current and future customer needs Maintain store stability and reputation through compliance with company policies and legal requirements Promote a safe, clean, and secure environment for employees and customers Review operating and financial statements to identify and implement marketing or operational strategy improvements Initiate, coordinate, and enforce operational, personnel, and program policies and procedures Qualifications One to two years of supervisory or management experience preferred Previous rent‑to‑own experience is desirable but not requiredRequirements Leadership Skills:
Manager Trainees must effectively supervise team members while handling customer concerns, scheduling changes, and inventory challenges. Strong decision‑making, multitasking, and people skills are essential, along with the ability to serve as a positive role model.Organization:

MITs assist Store Managers with recruiting and interviewing quality candidates and ensuring new hires receive a smooth and effective onboarding experience. Training skills and the ability to work with diverse personality types are essential to employee growth and success.Attentiveness:
This is an active leadership role that requires constant engagement with employees and customers. MITs are expected to motivate staff, maintain morale, and provide consistent support—regardless of business volume.Requirements:

Some travel is required.
