We are looking for a high-energy, highly effective Sales Floor Closer who loves the challenge of finding a deal when everyone else thinks there isn't one. This is not a position for someone who wants to sit behind a desk and wait for deals to come to them. This is a get-up, get-involved, find-a-way-to-win position. Before a customer leaves our dealership without purchasing a vehicle, we want another set of experienced eyes on the opportunity. That person is you.
Your responsibility is simple:
Find the deal. Save the deal. Close the deal. Sometimes the answer is price. Sometimes it is payment. Sometimes it is trade value, vehicle selection, financing, communication, trust, or simply asking the right question that nobody else asked. Your job is to figure it out.
THE STANDARD
At our dealership, we don't casually watch opportunities walk out the door. If a salesperson reaches an impasse with a customer, the Floor Closer gets involved before that customer leaves whenever reasonably possible. You will meet the customer, understand the objection, evaluate the opportunity and make a genuine attempt to put a deal together. We don't expect every customer to buy. We do expect every legitimate opportunity to receive our best effort. There should never be a customer driving away while we're standing inside wondering: "What if we had tried one more thing?"
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Perform a professional turnover (TO) on unsold showroom customers before they leave. Quickly establish rapport and credibility with customers. Identify the real objection preventing the purchase. Work directly with salespeople and management to identify solutions. Rework deals involving payment, price, trade, down payment, financing, vehicle selection and other customer concerns. Help customers understand the complete value of the vehicle and dealership. Recognize when the original vehicle or structure isn't going to work and immediately look for an alternative. Ask for the business confidently and directly. Help less-experienced salespeople improve their closing skills through real-world coaching. Maintain urgency and positive energy throughout the sales floor. Re-engage difficult or stalled negotiations without creating unnecessary confrontation. Protect dealership profitability while aggressively pursuing legitimate opportunities. Make sure management knows why an opportunity was lost when a deal genuinely cannot be made. Help create a sales culture where people look for solutions instead of excuses.
THE MINDSET WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We want someone who gets excited when they hear: "I don't think they're going to buy." Because that's when you go to work. You enjoy competition. You enjoy solving problems. You aren't intimidated by objections. You don't become discouraged when the first answer is no. And you don't stand on the sidelines waiting for somebody else to take the swing. You want the bat. We are looking for someone who believes that when there is a deal to be found, we are going to find it. Failure isn't something you accept casually. When an opportunity is lost, you want to know why — and what we could have done differently.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
Your performance will be measured by results, including: TO percentage on unsold showroom traffic Deals recovered from customers who otherwise would have left Closing percentage Gross-profit performance Customer experience Quality and consistency of deal documentation Improvement of salesperson closing effectiveness Overall contribution to dealership sales volume Most importantly: Did we exhaust every reasonable opportunity to earn the customer's business?
WHO SHOULD APPLY
You may be a great fit if you: Have proven automotive retail sales and closing experience. Know how to read customers and negotiations quickly. Can take control of a conversation without disrespecting the customer. Understand dealership deal structure. Are comfortable discussing payments, trades, financing and vehicle alternatives. Communicate extremely well. Thrive under pressure. Bring energy instead of needing someone else to create it for you. Are competitive and accountable. Coach rather than criticize. Hate watching good opportunities disappear because nobody took another swing. Want your individual performance to directly affect the dealership's success. Previous automotive management, desk, finance, team-lead or high-performing sales experience is strongly preferred.
THIS POSITION IS NOT FOR EVERYONE
If you are looking for a passive management position, this isn't it. If hearing "no" makes you uncomfortable, this isn't it. If you believe an unsuccessful negotiation is automatically somebody else's fault, this isn't it. If you need someone constantly pushing you to engage customers, this isn't it. But if you love walking into a difficult situation and hearing: "See what you can do with this one…" we want to talk to you. Because around here, when there's still a pitch coming— we're swinging the bat.
