With 20 locations across NYC and a loyal customer base, Xi'an Famous Foods is excited to announce the opening of our very first brick-and-mortar location in Boston! This milestone marks an exciting new chapter for our brand as we bring our signature hand-ripped noodles and bold northwestern Chinese flavors to New England for the very first time. We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Manager-in-Training to join our new store opening team and help manage day-to-day operations under the guidance of experienced NYC managers. This role requires a hands-on, culinary-focused leader who can oversee store execution, ensure exceptional food quality, and drive team performance goals. You will manage daily staffing, guest hospitality, regulatory compliance, and store financial performance while maintaining proactive communication with the Store Manager, Area Manager, and regional Operations Team.
NYC Training Requirement:
Prior to our Boston store opening, selected candidates must complete a required 4-6 week paid hands-on training program in New York City. Round-trip transportation, lodging, and budgeted per diem reimbursements will be provided by the company during the training period in NYC. Drive daily kitchen operations directly from the line, leading food preparation and station execution by example while ensuring strict adherence to proprietary recipes, food safety standards, and quality benchmarks. Actively manage kitchen pacing during peak service rushes, coordinating line stations to streamline order flow, eliminate bottlenecks, and maintain rapid ticket times without compromising consistency. Lead daily store operations by example, actively working on the floor and enforcing operational standards, health and safety codes, sanitation guidelines, and cash handling protocols. Deliver exceptional hospitality, handle guest feedback constructively, and maintain seamless front-of-house workflow during peak service hours. Utilize company scheduling software and digital systems to create, manage, and optimize employee work schedules. Track staff timekeeping, monitor attendance, and adjust daily shift coverage to maintain proper staffing levels while controlling labor costs. Support the New York-based HR team by assessing store staffing needs for the new Boston location. Conduct preliminary candidate screenings, evaluate applicants, and provide actionable hiring recommendations to HR. Maintain open, proactive communication with the Store Manager, Area Manager, and regional Operations Team. Report regularly on store KPIs, labor performance metrics, guest feedback, and daily operational updates. Resolve operational challenges and facility issues independently on-site, particularly in the absence of direct maintenance or advisory support. Resourcefully troubleshoot basic kitchen equipment disruptions, POS system errors, and daily operational roadblocks. Manage stock levels, product receiving, ingredient storage, and waste tracking using inventory management software (Marketman). Complete a mandatory 4-6 week hands-on training program at NYC store locations to prepare for success.
Benefit:

Our staff are expected to handle these rushes while making very few errors. Is this an environment you can find yourself in? We have high standards and expectations for our staff, and favor those that can meet these criteria (ex: showing up on time, being able to work efficiently and cleanly, able to follow directions, etc). Those that do not meet such standards will simply not last long here. Do you still wish to apply? Our stores are all equipped with quality control cameras which captures both video and audio (in non-private areas). One main purpose of these devices is to protect our staff, and data captured is used solely for business related purposes. For example, when a guest complains, we investigate footage to determine what, if anything, was actually wrong, whereas many other employers simply blame the staff by default. The cameras have saved our staff from such misunderstandings before. Do you accept this? Are you able to provide a reference from your previous position upon request during the interview process? What is your availability on Mondays to Sundays? Please list your availability below.
Please note:
your provided availability here must be accurate and truthful as it is a potential condition of employment. Immediate changes to it after hire, other than those requiring reasonable accommodation, may affect your continued employment with our company.
