We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Liquor Store Manager with strong knowledge of wine, spirits, beer, inventory management, purchasing, merchandising, and staff supervision. Candidates must have prior liquor store experience as a Manager, Assistant Manager, Department Manager, or Staff Lead . This is not an entry-level retail position. The ideal candidate understands current and trending SKUs , has strong knowledge of wine varietals and spirits , is experienced working directly with distributors and sales representatives , and has excellent attention to detail. The Store Manager will be responsible for the overall daily operation of the store, including staff management, purchasing, inventory control, merchandising, customer service, sales performance, and maintaining an organized and professional retail environment. Responsibilities Manage and oversee daily store operations Supervise, train, schedule, and hold staff accountable for performance Maintain a professional, customer-focused store environment Manage purchasing and ordering with liquor, wine, and beer distributors Negotiate and evaluate distributor deals, pricing, discounts, and promotional opportunities Stay current on high-demand, trending, and emerging SKUs Maintain strong knowledge of wine varietals, spirits, beer, and product categories Monitor inventory levels and ensure appropriate product availability Identify slow-moving and aging inventory and develop strategies to improve sell-through Maintain accurate receiving and inventory-control procedures Monitor pricing, margins, discounts, and profitability Ensure shelves, displays, coolers, and promotional areas are properly stocked and merchandised Develop product displays and merchandising strategies to increase sales Monitor POS transactions, cash handling, returns, and store closing procedures Handle customer issues and complaints professionally Build relationships with customers, distributors, and vendor representatives Identify opportunities to increase store revenue and improve operational efficiency Ensure employees follow company policies, procedures, and applicable alcohol regulations Maintain cleanliness, organization, security, and overall presentation of the store Assist ownership with reporting, inventory analysis, purchasing decisions, and operational improvements Qualifications & Skills Prior liquor store management or supervisory experience required Strong knowledge of wine, liquor, beer, and trending products Experience purchasing directly from distributors Strong understanding of inventory management and product turnover Knowledge of retail pricing, margins, promotions, and merchandising Experience managing and training employees Hands-on experience with POS systems and retail transactions Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills Ability to analyze sales and inventory information and make purchasing decisions Strong communication and leadership skills Ability to resolve customer and employee issues professionally Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment Reliable, accountable, and able to take ownership of store operations Basic math and computer skills Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who thinks like an owner — someone who understands that managing a liquor store involves much more than ringing up customers.
