Starting with the creation of the original, self-protecting Versa-Tag Key Tag, we have built a national reputation for producing quality printed products right here in the USA! Versa-tags is currently searching for a Screen Department Supervisor to join our growing production team! The normal shift for this department is 6:30am-3:00pm Monday-Friday. However, any potential candidate needs to be flexible dependent on the needs of their team and of Versa-Tags itself. This role has no capacity for remote work and will need to be in plant each day to support their team. What is a Versa-Tags Screen Supervisor? The Screen Department Supervisor reports directly to the Production Manager, will lead a team of 8-12 individuals in the creation of standard processes while continuously looking for opportunities to improve and find better ways of doing things. They lead with a servant-leader mindset, supporting and developing their employees while ensuring they have the training, resources, and knowledge needed to succeed. They oversee department workflow, prioritizing jobs to ensure they are completed on time while maintaining high-quality standards, minimizing rework, and ensuring product comes out right the first time. This role requires a flexible, open-minded leader who is willing to adapt, challenge the status quo, and embrace change rather than simply relying on the way things have always been done. They are also responsible for cross-training and developing their team, while continuously looking for ways to improve both their people and the department as a whole. What does the day look like? Direct the labor and workflow through the department. This includes setting daily goals/expectations for each operator based on the required work that day. Ensure quality and production standards are met and develop procedures and processes to support the functions necessary to meet those objectives. Ensure all orders are produced profitably and on time from the Department. Keeping accurate inventory of what materials are on hand for producing products in their department, while also working with Purchasing Manager to avoid material shortages, making plans as necessary to safeguard material for specific products and/or customers. Have the knowledge and ability to print/produce products, and the understanding of how to operate the various pieces of equipment in the department. Successfully train all team members to operate assigned equipment, and retrain when new processes or equipment is introduced. Has a cheerful and positive attitude towards the work and the workers. Approach challenges with the optimistic assumption that an effective solution will be found; looking at new projects and daily challenges as an opportunity to improve the department in a positive way. Keep morale high and expect teamwork and positivity from their operators. Work collaboratively with other department supervisors to ensure our products are produced and shipped in a timely manner. Reach out for assistance from the Production Manager, as the need arises, in order to minimize real or potential issues in the department, before they become big issues. Provide accurate and timely performance reviews, review employee timecards and PTO requests, review daily goals and performance standards with employees. Provide timely and professional corrective actions to team members when necessary or applicable. Consistently improve efficiencies and waste in order to increase profitability. Wears Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing job functions related to working with inks or chemicals and ensures all team members do the same. Upholds and reinforce decisions determined by upper management. Other duties as needed or assigned by management. Requirements 3-5 years of commercial printing experience. Proven track record with time management, Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement is critical. Focus on servant leadership. Must have strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as job, order, safety rules, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively and professionally. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
