Job Overview We are looking for a hands-on manager to run the daily operations of a busy heavy-equipment refurbishment and resale dealership turning over 1000+ pieces per year. This person will keep equipment moving from arrival through inspection, repair, cleanup, advertising, sale and delivery while leading the crew and serving as the main customer contact for sale. The owner will continue purchasing new inventory, make final hiring and firing decisions, and help with heavy workloads and daily tasks. The Manager will be trusted to take ownership of nearly everything else involved in sales and daily shop and yard operations. The position will be salaried based on experience, heavily incentivized with a gross margins based annual bonus. Employer can assist with housing and relocation costs. Duties Know the condition, repair status, cost position and next step for every machine on the lot. Set priorities and delegate work to mechanics and yard employees based on workload and skill. Help diagnose difficult mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and equipment-control problems. Decide which issues should be repaired and which machines should be sold as-is based on total cost, risk and resale value. Order parts and manage vendors, returns, cores, backorders and outside repairs. Price, advertise and sell equipment; keep listings accurate and respond promptly to buyers. Serve as the main customer contact and handle inspections, questions, delivery details and problems. Coordinate inbound and outbound freight, loading readiness and condition documentation. Maintain accurate work orders and records for labor, parts, freight, repairs and equipment costs. Keep the shop, yard and property safe, organized, clean and in good functional condition. Qualifications Experience supervising a shop, service department, field crew, dealership, rental fleet or similar operation. Experience as a technician, mechanic, or salesman at a heavy equipment dealership. Broad familiarity with heavy construction, agricultural and support equipment. Strong troubleshooting ability and enough technical depth to guide experienced mechanics. Good judgment about repair cost, used-equipment condition, pricing and resale value. Organized, decisive and comfortable holding employees accountable while helping them succeed. Professional customer communication, basic computer skills and reliable recordkeeping.
