Job Overview Store Operator / Lead - The UPS Store We are opening a brand-new, locally owned and operated The UPS Store in Durham, NC, and we are looking for an experienced and dependable person to join our team as a Store Operator / Lead. Since this is a new location, we are looking for someone who can take an active role in the day-to-day operation of the store. The ideal candidate will have experience in shipping, retail, customer service, printing, packing, cash handling, or a similar environment. We are looking for someone who is comfortable taking responsibility, learning the business, helping customers, and eventually training and supporting other employees as the team grows. Responsibilities Provide friendly and professional customer service. Process shipping and receiving transactions. Pack, label, and prepare packages for shipment. Assist customers with printing, copying, scanning, faxing, and other document services. Handle mailbox and other store services. Operate the POS system and accurately process payments. Handle cash and credit-card transactions. Receive and organize packages, supplies, and inventory. Keep the store clean, organized, and professional. Answer customer questions and resolve issues in a professional manner. Assist with opening and closing procedures. Follow store procedures for shipping, cash handling, safety, and security. Help establish efficient daily routines and procedures as the new store grows. Work closely with the owner to keep daily operations running smoothly. Help train and support new employees on store services, equipment, POS systems, and daily procedures. Take initiative and assist with other store responsibilities as needed. Qualifications We are especially interested in candidates with previous experience in: Shipping and receiving The UPS Store or another shipping/packaging business UPS, FedEx, USPS, or similar services Retail Printing and document services Customer service Cash handling and POS systems Employee training or team leadership Small-business operations The ideal candidate should be: Dependable and punctual Friendly and professional Comfortable working with customers Organized and detail-oriented Comfortable using computers Able to learn new systems and procedures Able to work independently and make decisions when appropriate Comfortable handling multiple tasks during busy periods Able to lift and move packages when needed Willing to take initiative and accept responsibility Comfortable helping train other employees Experience Previous experience in shipping, retail, printing, customer service, or a similar environment is preferred.
