PLANT MANAGER BASIC JOB DESCRIPTION
The Stitching Department Supervisor is responsible for the organization and total operation of the Stitching department on a day-to-day basis. The Supervisor does the scheduling and coaching of team members in compliance with footwear specifications and quality standards set forth by customer specifications. The Stitching Department Supervisor and the Plant Manager will assist with safety requirements set forth by current OSHA standards. Coaching, training, and disciplining for this position are provided and coordinated by the Assistant Plant Manager.
JOB OBJECTIVE
To efficiently perform the assigned production task in accordance with the quality and quantity standards as established by the Company. To work as a team member to produce a sufficient quantity of acceptable first quality boots so as to contribute to the overall profitability of the Company and to provide the highest earnings possible for the employee.
The position holder should:
Support harmonious relations and good team work with co-workers, Team Coaches, and managers. Constantly strive for improvement in the performance of job duties. Willingly and enthusiastically cooperate with, assist, and support the immediate Team Coach in his/her efforts to achieve the highest level of productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction for the subject area of responsibility. Abide by the work rules and rules of good personal behavior as required by Company policy; and support the Company, its policies, rules, and regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1.
Coach, train, lead, discipline, and recruit people as necessary with the objective of performing the duties in this area of responsibility at a high level of proficiency, efficiency, quality, and satisfaction of customer specifications. 2. Responsible for the safety training for each employee and employee adherence to safety standards within the department. 3. To keep records of boot quality, quantity, and any changes in specifications used in making or checking the quality of outgoing boots.
OTHER DUTIES 1.
Prepare accurate time and production records as required. 2. Perform other duties as assigned by Team Coach. 3. Clean up work area daily. 4. Follow all safety rules and regulations; must use all required safety equipment. Report any safety issues to Team Coach.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND CHARACTERISTICS DESIRED 1.
Prior footwear manufacturing experience, particularly Stitching Department experience. 2. Prior supervisory experience preferred. 3. Must have the desire to learn what it takes to be a good production team leader and must demonstrate, on a continuing basis, the willingness to put forth the effort as may be required to develop the skills necessary to perform as a good production team leader. 4. Must have the aptitude and desire to acquire the knowledge and develop the skills necessary to efficiently perform all production related operations in the department. 5. Good communication skills. Use of tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations. 6. Good organizational skills. 7. Self-motivated. 8. Sense of urgency. 9. Ability to concentrate and give continuous close attention to job. 10. Must be able to understand, remember, and follow instructions. 11. Take charge - "get it done" attitude. 12. Ability to manage time wisely in order to complete assigned tasks. 13. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and to request clarification when needed. 14. Alert and aware of situations or occurrences which disrupt, diminish, or interfere with the efficient achievement of expected goals 15. Ability to understand, remember, and follow both oral and written instructions. 16. Ability and reliability to work independently without close supervision. 17. Honest, dependable and trustworthy with a high degree of pride in work and a good work ethic. 18. Must be able to read, write, and count accurately and repetitively. 19. Positive attitude. WORKING CONDITIONS 1.
Job requires standing, walking, pushing racks, and carrying supplies and materials throughout the day. 2. Must maintain confidentiality of all non-public information acquired as a result of position. 3. Requires continuous attention to job to produce first quality work. 4. Smoking, the use of other tobacco products, or vaping on any McRae Industries, Inc. premises or in Company vehicles is allowed only where designated. 5. The workplace is a pleasant business environment and your language and physical conduct should always be consistent with this type atmosphere. Verbal or physical conduct which harasses, embarrasses, disrupts, or interferes with your Teammates' work performance, which creates an intimidating, offensive, or hostile environment, or in general is not consistent with professional behavior is not allowed. 6. All forms of harassment are prohibited in our workplace and it is Company policy to emphasize that sexual harassment is specifically prohibited. 7. Socializing or sexualizing during on-duty time is not acceptable. Sexualizing at any time on Company premises or while on Company business is not acceptable behavior. 8. The Company is committed to maintaining a drug-free workforce and a drug-free and alcohol-free workplace. Employees are prohibited from the illegal use, sale, dispensing, distribution, possession, or manufacture of illegal drugs, controlled substances, narcotics, or alcoholic beverages on Company premises or work site, on any of the grounds connected to our buildings (either leased, rented, or owned), in personal vehicles on Company property, or in any vehicle used for Company business. Being intoxicated or otherwise under the influence of alcohol or non-prescription drugs while on duty is not permitted. All persons to whom a Tentative Job Offer is made for a position in the Company will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test. All active employees are subject to random testing, "reasonable" suspicion testing, follow-up testing and post-accident testing. 9. McRae Industries, Inc. has a zero-tolerance policy toward workplace violence. All employees are responsible for helping maintain a violence-free workplace.
GENERAL CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS 1.
Must work well with others on an individual basis and as a team member. 2. Must listen to, be able to understand, and follow instructions. 3. Must demonstrate a strong commitment to the Parent company (McRae Industries, Inc., a publicly owned company) and its management's efforts to profitably operate a conglomerate of several diverse businesses (Divisions, Subsidiaries, or Affiliates) each of whose earnings or losses (as the case may be) are consolidated in the Company's Financial Statement at the end of each fiscal year (end of July), and whose combined earnings are the basis for most elective employee benefit programs; therefore, must be an enthusiastic supporter of the operations and marketing efforts of each of the affiliated business units. 4. Must follow Company rules, regulations, and procedures. Must adhere to Company Policies, Statements, and business practices. Must demonstrate high ethical standards in all work-related activities and any other activities which could adversely affect the Company's positive relationship with its existing or potential customers or its employees. 5. Must work all normal scheduled work time and any additional time as required by business conditions and requested by Coach. Overtime hours may be required without advance notice based on production schedule. The Company has a policy of making reasonable accommodation for specific religious beliefs which conflict with established and normal operating procedures. 6. There is a ninety (90) day waiting period before becoming eligible for most non-mandatory employee benefit plans. Days Off With Pay accrual is effective immediately for regular full-time employees. Holiday pay is available for regular full-time employees after the completion of the 90-day waiting period. 7. Must perform any other duties as may be: (a) appropriate, necessary, or required to cause the Company to be operated at its highest level of efficiency and profitability; and (b) as may be directed by Coach. 8. McRae Industries, Inc. is an "at-will" employer, and employment in the position of Stitching Department Supervisor may be terminated at any time, with or without cause, by either the employee or employer. Your first 90 days of employment will be considered an introductory period during which the Company will evaluate you for the position. The satisfactory completion of the introductory period does not guarantee you continued employment or change the "at-will" status of your employment. 9. PAY RANGE
Salary commensurate with experience. In accordance with Wage and Hour Laws, this job, as described herein, is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Wage and Hour Laws and is compensated on a salaried basis and paid bi-weekly. The starting wage will be determined by an appraisal of the candidate's experience, knowledge relevant to the job content, and skill development necessary to perform the duties of the job at or above the acceptable level.
