Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized Surgery Department Supervisor to lead and coordinate daily operations within our surgical units in both small and large animal. This vital role involves supervising surgical staff, ensuring compliance with hospital standards, and maintaining exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive clinical knowledge, and a passion for optimizing surgical workflows. Duties Strategic Team Oversight:
Oversee daily surgical department activities, including staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure smooth operations. Supervise assistants & technicians, providing guidance and performance feedback to foster team excellence. Ensure adherence to hospital policies, safety protocols, infection control standards, and regulations to protect patient safety.
Specialty Support:
Support a diverse range of surgical services, including Neurology, Soft Tissue, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, and Cardiology , ensuring teams are proficient in intra-op medication administration and drug calculations. Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other team members to facilitate efficient surgical procedures and patient flow. Manage inventory of surgical supplies and equipment, including sterile processing and aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment.
Multi-Species Expertise:
Utilize advanced knowledge of veterinary medicine in both small and large animals to provide guidance during complex surgical interventions. Qualifications Proven supervisory experience in a surgical or veterinary care environment with a strong understanding of OR procedures. Extensive knowledge of veterinary medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and diagnostic evaluation relevant to surgery. Experience working with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) for documentation and patient records management. Demonstrated ability to manage teams effectively while maintaining high standards of patient care and safety. Extensive knowledge of surgical and sterile equipment, including cautery, surgical lights, IWI, portable C-ARMs, and autoclaves. Strong communication skills coupled with the ability to handle complex situations involving infection control or emergency interventions confidently. Pay:
$58,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
