Job Description

Tank Department Supervisor Abstract:
Bayonne Drydock and Repair's Tank Department supports ship repair production throughout the facility including, but not limited to, our 1092' Graving Dock, 1280T Mobile Boat Hauler (MBH), wet berth, and pier space. Trained members of the Tank Department assist with the vessel docking process on both the Graving Dock and MBH. The Supervisor will oversee all of the department's operations, which is staffed by experienced laborers and helpers.
Daily Responsibilities:
Delegate daily tasks to a department personnel in support of drydocking and ship repair projects, prioritizing efficiency. Review and analyze work specifications, develop plan to execute work, and memorialize all work performed in written condition reports to the satisfaction of on-site customer representative. Order all consumables and material necessary to complete work. Interface with project managers and other trade supervisors to coordinate the efficient completion of vessel tank and general cleaning. Physically supervise all ongoing work and provide direction when necessary. Execute maintenance and inventory program for tank equipment, including pumps, hoses, pressure washers, and fittings. Order spares when necessary. Submit daily reports for manpower, identifying work carried out and man hours expended.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
Preferred experience as a Vessel Competent Person. Preferred certificate in work-site OSHA training. Previous experience with shipyard tank cleaning preferred.
