Duties Lead and coordinate all aspects of shop operations, including workflow management and quality control for collision repairs. Supervise technicians in performing auto body repairs, auto painting, aluminum and metal fabrication, auto glass replacement, and detailing to meet high standards. Ensure adherence to safety regulations and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) across the shop to maintain a safe working environment. Oversee the use of hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment such as computer-aided vehicle damage estimating software to accurately assess and repair vehicle damage. Manage inventory of paints, auto body parts, auto glass, and repair supplies while maintaining accurate records of all repairs performed. Communicate effectively with clients regarding repair estimates, progress updates, and defect resolution root cause analysis to ensure transparency and satisfaction. Monitor shop productivity, implement process improvements, and ensure compliance with safety standards including heavy lifting protocols and collision repair shop regulations. Requirements Bilingual is a plus. Proven experience managing an autobody or collision repair shop with a strong understanding of automotive body refinishing, auto painting, and collision repair processes. Dealership experience or collision repair shop background preferred; familiarity with automotive repair mechanics highly valued. Hands-on knowledge of auto body repair techniques involving aluminum work, metal fabrication, auto glass installation, and detailing. Technical proficiency with computer-aided vehicle damage estimating systems and familiarity with automotive repair software tools. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with experience using hand tools, power tools, and heavy lifting equipment safely. Ability to perform defect root cause analysis to identify underlying issues affecting vehicle repairs or quality concerns. Excellent client communication skills to explain repairs clearly and provide exceptional customer service. Basic math skills for estimating parts costs and labor hours; understanding safety regulations related to PPE use is essential. Valid experience in heavy-duty collision repairs is advantageous; familiarity with automotive paint systems including paints used in refinishing is preferred. Experience with working with insurance companies and their adjusters with knowledge of acquiring supplements as needed is preferred.
