ABOUT DUTCH'S
Dutch's is a sandwich shop with locations in Montclair and Hoboken, NJ. We opened Hoboken in February 2026 and it is already our busiest store. A third location is in planning. We are not a chain and we do not run off a microwave. Every item on our menu has a written build sheet
  • the exact bread, the exact weight, the exact order it goes together in
  • and we run a new collab sandwich every single week, which is a big part of why people keep coming back.
We are also in the middle of building the systems a growing company needs: written recipes, published schedules, a real training program. If you have worked somewhere that ran on guesswork and vibes, this is the opposite of that.
WHAT YOU WOULD ACTUALLY DO
Shift Leads are the backbone here. You are the person with the keys.
  • Open or close the store
  • cash-in and cash-out, alarm, temperature logs
  • Run the floor during your shift: call the line, keep tickets moving, fix the order that went wrong before the customer has to ask twice
  • Execute the prep par sheet, and write the next day's prep list before you leave
  • You are one of the only people who can comp, void or discount an order
  • always against a reason code. That trust is the job
  • Certify-train newer staff on stations alongside the manager
  • Step onto any station when someone calls out. Cold line, hot line, breakfast, register
  • all four
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • 1+ year in a kitchen, deli or cafe
  • enough that a rush does not rattle you
  • Certified or certifiable on all four stations (we train and test you; that is what the $22.50 is for)
  • Cash handling experience and the judgment to be trusted with keys and comps
  • Dependable to the point of boring. If you are the person who shows up early, we want you
  • Weekend availability
  • Friday through Sunday is over half our week
THE SHIFT
We are hiring two Shift Leads in Montclair
  • one opener, one closer.
Opener:
roughly 5:45 AM
  • 12:30 PM.
Closer:
roughly 9:30 AM
  • 4:30 PM.
30 and 26 hours respectively. Weekend availability required.
HOW RAISES WORK HERE
Every raise at Dutch's is tied to a station certification. It is written down, it is the same at both stores, and it is not a favor:
  • Register / Expo
  • $17.00/hr. Day one. No experience needed.
  • Sandwich Maker
  • $19.00/hr. Certified on Cold Line & Wraps, or Cutlet & Fryer.
  • AM Prep / Breakfast
  • $19.50/hr. Certified on Breakfast plus par-sheet execution.
  • Shift Lead
  • $22.50/hr. Certified on all four stations. Keyholder. Cash-handling trained.
  • Store Manager
  • $64,000 to $68,000 a year.
You get trained on the clock, you test, you move up. Most people can reach $19.00 inside their first few months if they want it.
WHAT YOU GET
  • Paid training on every station, on the clock
  • A written raise ladder
  • certification moves you up, not seniority or who you know
  • New Jersey Earned Sick Leave (1 hour for every 30 worked)
  • Your schedule published a full week ahead, every Thursday
  • Daytime hours. We are a breakfast-and-lunch shop
  • no closing at midnight
  • Real promotion path: two stores now, a third in planning
HOW TO APPLY
Apply through Indeed. We read every application and we respond either way. If we want to talk, expect a short phone call first, then a paid working interview on the line
  • you will be paid for that time.
Pay:
$20.50
  • $22.50 per hour Expected hours: 26.0
  • 30.
0 per week Application Question(s): How many years of kitchen, deli or cafe experience do you have? Have you held keys and been responsible for opening or closing a store? Do you have cash handling experience (drawer counts, deposits)?
