Sales Manager Position Overview We are seeking a hands-on, high-energy Assistant New & Used Car Manager to support both departments with a strong emphasis on lead management, customer follow-up, and prospecting discipline . This is not a desk-only role—this position requires daily, consistent outbound communication with prospects and customers , along with leadership in CRM usage and accountability. The ideal candidate leads from the front by actively working deals, engaging customers, and driving appointment and closing activity. Key Responsibilities Customer Follow-Up & Prospecting (Core Focus) Spend a significant portion of the work week (30-50%) actively calling, texting, and emailing prospects and customers Work unsold showroom traffic, internet leads, service drive opportunities, and orphan owners Execute and enforce a structured follow-up process (day 1, 3, 7, 14, 30, 60, 90) Personally handle high-value prospects and aged leads to drive conversions Re-engage lost opportunities and push for appointment setting and show rates Set the standard for daily outbound activity metrics (calls, texts, emails, appointments) CRM Management & Accountability Ensure 100% CRM usage and compliance across the sales team Audit CRM daily for: Lead response times Follow-up completion Task adherence Data accuracy Hold sales consultants accountable to daily activity minimums Train and coach team members on effective CRM usage and communication strategies Monitor and improve lead-to-appointment and appointment-to-sale conversion rates Maintain clean pipelines and eliminate stagnant or neglected leads Sales Leadership & Performance Assist in managing both new and used vehicle sales operations Work directly with the team to close deals and maximize front-end gross Conduct daily one-on-ones and performance reviews Drive accountability around appointments, shows, and sold units Lead by example with personal production and customer engagement Inventory & Merchandising Assist in managing inventory levels, mix, and turn rates Support used vehicle acquisition and appraisals Monitor pricing strategy to stay competitive in the market Ensure strong online presence with accurate listings and photos Customer Experience Ensure fast, professional responses to all inbound leads Personally intervene on at-risk deals or dissatisfied customers Drive high CSI through consistent communication and follow-through Daily / Weekly Activity Expectations 50-100+ outbound calls per week (personally and through team oversight) Active daily engagement in CRM (lead follow-up, task completion, deal notes) Consistent review of unsold traffic and lead pipelines Hands-on involvement in appointment setting and confirmation Qualifications Required 2-5+ years in automotive sales (preferably Stellantis/CDJR experience ) Proven track record of strong follow-up and closing ability High proficiency with CRM systems (VinSolutions, DealerSocket, etc.) Strong phone skills and ability to convert leads into appointments Leadership mindset with a process-driven approach Preferred Previous Assistant Sales Manager or Sales Manager experience High-volume dealership experience Strong understanding of BDC processes and integration with sales Compensation & Benefits Competitive pay plan (salary + commission + volume bonuses) Health, dental, vision insurance 401(k) with match Paid time off Employee vehicle purchase program What Success Looks Like High lead response speed and follow-up completion rates Increased appointment set and show percentages Strong CRM discipline across entire sales team Improved closing ratios and reduced lead loss Consistent personal contribution to deal flow and revenue
