Lucky Duck is the sister business to Hayward Restaurant a sweet little caf , wine shop, bakery, and culinary retail space in the heart of downtown Carlton.
We re looking for a Shop Manager to help lead the day-to-day life of
This is a hands-on management position. You ll spend the majority of your time on the floor welcoming guests, making coffee, talking about wine and food, selling retail products, stocking shelves, supporting the team, and jumping in wherever the day needs you.
We re looking for someone who can see both the guest in front of them and the bigger picture of the shop around them.
What You ll DoLead the day-to-day shopAct as the manager on duty during scheduled shiftsHelp keep caf and retail operations running smoothlyOpen and close the shopProvide warm, knowledgeable, thoughtful hospitalityHelp guests with coffee, wine, food, and retail purchasesKeep the space clean, stocked, organized, and guest-ready throughout the dayHandle everyday guest concerns and communicate larger issues to senior leadershipSupport the teamWork alongside and help direct our caf and retail employeesHelp train and onboard new team membersReinforce Lucky Duck s service standards and proceduresProvide thoughtful day-to-day feedback and directionHelp create a positive, collaborative, and professional workplaceKeep communication flowing between the team and senior leadershipKeep the shop stocked + beautifulMonitor caf , retail, and operational suppliesHelp with routine ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and inventoryMaintain thoughtful, tidy retail displaysKeep an eye on the details music, lighting, cleanliness, organization, and the overall feel of the spaceIdentify maintenance or repair needs before they become bigger problemsHelp with seasonal merchandising and displaysHelp bring Lucky Duck happenings to lifeAssist with our pop-ups, markets, wine events, collaborations, and other special programmingHelp with event setup, service, guest experience, and breakdownProvide occasional on-site support for the Lucky Duck Airbnb when unexpected needs ariseWho We re Looking ForYou might be a great fit if you:
Genuinely enjoy taking care of peopleHave hospitality, caf , restaurant, wine, or specialty retail experienceAre comfortable leading a small team and taking ownership of a shiftAre organized, observant, proactive, and good at following throughCan move easily between helping a guest, restocking a shelf, making a coffee, and solving a small operational problemCommunicate clearly and kindlyCare about food, wine, beautiful things, and creating spaces people want to spend time inDon t mind rolling up your sleeves this is very much a working manager roleAre comfortable working independently while also knowing when to ask for helpExperience with coffee, wine, specialty food, or retail is wonderful; previous expereince managing staff is a very big plus. ScheduleThis is a full-time, fully on-site position in Carlton.
Weekend availability is required, along with occasional evenings for events and special programming. The schedule may shift somewhat seasonally as the business evolves.
Lucky Duck is currently closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Compensation + Benefits$48,000- $55,000 annual salary, depending on experienceParticipation in tips and gratuities in accordance with Oregon law$300/month healthcare stipend after 90 days of employmentTwo weeks of paid holiday during our annual company closure, generally around the Christmas and New Year's holidays.
