Honorable Mention is looking for a high-energy, hospitality-driven Manager to join one of Portland s most exciting new restaurant and bar experiences.Located inside the Benson Hotel at 309 SW Broadway, Honorable Mention brings together great food, standout cocktails, elevated sports-lounge energy, private events, and polished hospitality in the heart of downtown Portland. The concept is built around varsity spirit meets elevated flavor, with chef-driven food, craft cocktails, game-day energy, and a strong focus on group celebrations and private events. We are seeking a Manager who can own the room, lead the team, drive sales, protect standards, and create the kind of guest experience that keeps people coming back.
About the RoleThe Assistant Manager will assist the General Manager with the full operation of Honorable Mention, including team leadership, guest satisfaction, financial performance, service standards, hiring, training, scheduling, vendor communication, event execution, and daily operational excellence.
This is a front of house role that will focus on customer service, bar operations, team leadership, and delivering an excellent guest experience.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced restaurant environment, understands both elevated dining and high-volume bar energy, and knows how to build a team that delivers hospitality with personality.
What You'll DoLead, coach, and develop the front-of-house management and hourly teams.
Create a positive, accountable, high-performance culture built on hospitality, teamwork, and professionalism.
Oversee daily restaurant operations, including service execution, labor management, guest relations, facilities, cash handling, and opening/closing standards.
Drive sales through strong floor presence, guest engagement, private events, game-day programming, and local business relationships.
Partner with culinary leadership to ensure food quality, consistency, timing, and communication between FOH and BOH.Maintain polished service standards that match the property s elevated food and cocktail program, which includes items such as steaks, seafood, shared plates, pizzas, craft cocktails, wine, beer, and game-day favorites. Monitor controllable costs, including labor, food and beverage costs, supplies, repairs, comps, discounts, and waste.
Support private parties, group reservations, special events, and high-volume game-day experiences. Ensure compliance with health, safety, OLCC, HR, wage-and-hour, and company policies.
Be the face of the restaurant: visible on the floor, engaged with guests, and present with the team.
What We re Looking ForStrong background in full-service restaurants, high-volume bars, polished casual dining, hotels, or event-driven concepts.
Proven ability to lead teams, develop managers, and hold people accountable without losing hospitality or morale.
Comfortable managing a restaurant that blends elevated food, cocktails, sports, nightlife, events, and private parties.
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, game days, and key business periods.
A guest-first mindset and the ability to bring energy, polish, and professionalism to every shift.
