Purpose:

Coordinates the daily activities of the department, including assisting with employee training and performance assessment. Supervise the transporters in the movement of patients and equipment to and from assigned areas. Assists to facilitate complaint resolution.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate and assist with the evaluations and training of all personnel in area of responsibility. Perform all duties of Transport position as outlined in job title Transporter. Report any and all problems and suggestions to the Shift Supervisor. Coordinate the monthly in-services for the department with the Manager. Maintain control, location, and inspection of wheelchairs and/or stretchers. Assist Supervisors with monthly system wide competencies on existing staff. Develop an open working relationship with unit personnel and Supervisors. Ensure that the daily work of all team members is completed and ensure that they go to their assigned locations. In the absence of the Shift Supervisor temporarily act in a supervisory capacity; assume the responsibilities of this individual. Maintain a courteous professional demeanor and communicate appropriately with patients, visitors, hospital personnel and fellow employees at all times.
