Job Description
Position Overview The Store Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and operation of Bucks Bespokery's retail store and ecommerce. This role leads the retail team in a fast-paced environment, ensures an exceptional customer experience, and creates the processes and accountability needed for the store to operate smoothly and consistently. The ideal candidate is both a strong people leader and hands-on operator who takes ownership, solves problems, and continually looks for ways to improve the business. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership Manage, schedule, train, coach, and support retail staff. Set clear expectations for performance, customer service, product knowledge, and store procedures. Provide feedback and address performance concerns as needed. Maintain appropriate staffing and floor coverage based on business needs. Support recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new employees. Store Operations Oversee daily operations, including opening/closing, cash handling, store readiness, cleanliness, and organization. Ensure policies and procedures are consistently followed. Identify and resolve operational issues and communicate significant concerns to ownership. Prepare the store and team for weekends, holidays, events, festivals and high-traffic periods. Customer Experience & Sales Maintain a high standard for warm, knowledgeable, attentive customer service. Coach staff to educate customers and make thoughtful product recommendations without high-pressure selling. Handle customer concerns and escalated situations professionally. Lead the team toward store sales growth while maintaining the customer-first experience that defines Bucks Bespokery. Processes & Procedures Develop, document, implement, and improve store processes and standard operating procedures. Create clear systems and checklists for recurring activities such as opening/closing, inventory receiving, restocking, customer orders, and event preparation. Identify inefficiencies and recurring problems and implement practical solutions. Train staff on procedures and ensure consistent execution. Build systems that reduce the need for owner involvement in routine daily operations. Inventory & Merchandising Train and manage inventory and merchandising team members to ensure accurate inventory, timely replenishment and attractive merchandising Oversee receiving, processing, stocking, and organization of merchandise. Maintain accurate inventory practices and communicate replenishment needs to ownership. Ensure displays are attractive, organized, stocked, and easy to shop. Coordinate merchandising and seasonal changes with ownership. Qualifications 3+ years retail management, assistant management, or comparable supervisory experience. Strong leadership, organizational, customer service, and problem-solving skills. Experience managing, coaching, and holding employees accountable. Ability to create and implement effective processes and procedures. Proactive, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable making decisions independently. Availability for a retail schedule, including weekends and high-volume periods. Ability to handle prolonged standing/walking, regularly navigating short staircases throughout the store, and lifting/moving merchandise or deliveries weighing up to 50 pounds. Specialty retail experience is a plus. Fountain pen and stationery knowledge is not required, but enthusiasm for learning our products is essential. What Success Looks Like The store is well staffed, organized, stocked, and welcoming. Employees know what is expected of them and consistently provide excellent service. Problems are solved, processes improve, and routine operations do not require constant owner involvement.
