Operations Management Leadership Program (OMLP)
We partner with Colleges and Universities (Clients), offering five products to support their Staff and Students (Customers) so that they can focus on education and development. From supporting our unique approach to course materials as a subscription, to running Mail and Print services, to selling general merchandise in the Campus Store and online, this position will interact with almost every aspect of Slingshot. Team Description and Goals The Strategic Operations Department is a team that supports Slingshot operations in a variety of ways. Our team cross-trains across all departments to master core operational tasks and works alongside different departments during their peak seasons. Our goal is to develop well rounded employees and leaders who have a diverse understanding of all our operational departments (logistics, procurement, customer service, retail, and print operations). This depth of inter-departmental understanding fosters teamwork and creative problem solving throughout Slingshot. The Operations Management Leadership Program (OMLP) Associate is designed for individuals with prior leadership experience or high potential for future leadership positions. A core purpose for this role is personal and professional growth, preparing you for advancement as Slingshot continues to expand. These opportunities may include but are not limited to specialized leadership roles in our corporate office or managing one of our university campus stores across the country. Operations Department Support:
You will work alongside and support key operational departments including Procurement, Logistics, Print Hub, Customer Support, General Merchandise, Ink House, and Retail Operations throughout the year. By actively participating in daily tasks, you will gain hands-on experience and in-depth operational knowledge, building a holistic understanding of the entire company.Onboarding & Training:
Assist with onboarding new team members and help facilitate structured training across various operational functions.Project Execution & Management:
Take ownership of operational improvement projects assigned by the Director of Strategic Operations. Track project completion, evaluate outcomes, and report results to leadership.Management Shadowing:
Partner closely with leaders across Slingshot to learn specialized operational scheduling, labor planning, and business metrics.Store Deployments:
Assist with new store openings, campus store transformations, and other retail initiatives across the country. Expectations Work hours. Hours will vary depending on team and company needs. On average you will work 40 hours a week over a year-long period, but the number of hours worked per week will vary between 30-50 hours/week. Flexibility in tasks and humility in service. As a leader, you will lead by example alongside the colleagues you support. Opportunity for advancement. Remote work will be the exception rather than the norm for this role. You will be expected to be in the office most days. Embrace change and drive improvement. Expect to travel 2 to 4 weeks (10-20 days) out of the year to support new store openings, store transitions, or campus store manager fill-in. Evening and weekend hours may be required while traveling. You will report directly to the Director of Strategic Operations, while coordinating with the managers/directors of the departments or stores you are deployed to assist. Qualifications Leadership, supervisory, or team management experience, whether gained through professional roles (retail, customer service, logistics, operations) or through leading athletic teams, youth programs, campus clubs, or community organizations. Proficiency in basic computer skills including the Google Workspace suite. Strong communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills across different workplace cultures. Embraces change and are never satisfied with the status quo. Can learn new concepts and operational processes quickly. High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree or equivalent management experience preferred. Benefits Employer contribution towards health, dental, and vision insurance.Paid time off:
