Job Description

We're Looking for a Leader Who Knows How to Keep a Shop Moving. At DunRite Automotive & Transmission, a great day doesn't happen by accident. It takes strong communication, the right work going to the right technician, a front counter that knows what's happening in the shop, and a leader who can keep all of those pieces working together. We're looking for a Store Manager who understands the flow of a busy automotive repair shop and enjoys leading people. You'll be working with a team of highly skilled technicians and Service Advisors to manage the day-to-day operation of the store. A big part of your role will be managing production and shop flow, dispatching work, monitoring jobs, removing roadblocks, and serving as the connection between the shop and the front counter. This isn't a position where you'll spend your entire day behind a desk. You'll be in the middle of the operation, communicating with technicians, working alongside advisors, solving problems, checking progress, helping customers when needed, and making sure the entire team is working toward the same goal. If you're someone who can look at a full parking lot and a busy schedule, organize the day, make decisions, and keep a team moving without losing sight of the customer experience, we'd love to talk with you. What You'll Be Responsible For As our Store Manager, you'll oversee the day-to-day operation of the shop while keeping the team, production, and customer experience on track. Some of your responsibilities will include: Dispatching work to a team of highly skilled technicians based on skill level, workload, job priority, and shop capacity Managing the daily flow of vehicles through the shop from inspection and diagnosis through repair, quality control, and completion Keeping technicians productive by making sure work is ready, properly assigned, and moving throughout the day Monitoring the status of jobs and quickly addressing anything slowing down production Serving as the middle point between the technicians and Service Advisors, making sure information is communicated clearly between the shop and front counter Keeping Service Advisors updated on inspections, diagnostic findings, additional repairs, parts needs, job progress, and expected completion times Working with Advisors to prioritize approved work and manage customer expectations Leading, coaching, and developing employees while holding the team accountable to expectations Stepping in to help solve customer concerns and making sure customers are treated honestly and fairly Monitoring shop productivity, technician efficiency, car count, sales, profitability, and overall performance Maintaining an organized, professional, and efficient shop Identifying problems before they become bigger problems and helping the team find solutions Building relationships within the local community and representing DunRite at community events Looking for opportunities to improve the operation and grow the business while protecting the reputation we've spent decades building What Makes DunRite Different? We're a family owned and operated business that's been serving South Carolina for more than 30 years, and we still believe people matter. Our customers matter. Our employees matter. Our community matters. We don't believe in selling people things they don't need. We believe in honest repairs, doing the job right, treating people the right way, and building relationships that last. When you join DunRite, you're not simply managing repair orders and technicians. You're helping lead a team and a business that's continuing to grow while staying true to the values it was built on. What You Can Expect From Us We Believe Family Comes First Your career should support your life, not take it over. We offer paid vacation, paid holidays, weekends off, and a workplace that understands family matters. You'll Have Support You're not on an island here. Our leadership team is involved, approachable, and available when you need help. We Invest in Our People From leadership development to technical and professional training, we believe in continuing to develop our people. When you grow, our company grows with you. Opportunity to Grow DunRite continues to expand, creating additional opportunities for advancement. Whenever possible, we believe in developing and promoting people from within. Your Voice Matters We value honesty, communication, accountability, teamwork, and people who aren't afraid to bring ideas to the table. What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who understands that running a successful automotive shop requires more than knowing cars. You have to know how to manage people, time, workload, communication, and priorities.
The right person will have:
Automotive repair industry experience Previous leadership or management experience Experience with shop production, workflow, or dispatching technicians The ability to understand technician strengths and assign work accordingly Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively between technicians and Service Advisors Strong customer service and sales skills The ability to motivate, coach, and hold a team accountable Strong organizational and problem-solving skills The ability to manage multiple vehicles, priorities, and deadlines at once The ability to stay calm and make decisions in a fast-paced environment A willingness to jump in wherever needed Transmission knowledge is preferred A valid driver's license Most importantly, we're looking for someone who genuinely cares about people, takes ownership of their operation, and wants to build a team and a shop they're proud of.
