Job Description

Primary Purpose:
The Feed & Animal Health Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations, sales growth, inventory management, and customer service functions of the feed and animal health departments at United Ag's Bay City location. This role is responsible for maintaining strong relationships with producers, ranchers, and retail customers while ensuring product availability, profitability, and exceptional service. This position plays a key role in supporting United Ag's mission by providing trusted products, operational support, and industry expertise to agricultural producers, livestock owners, and community customers throughout the region. The Feed & Animal Health Manager is expected to identify opportunities for growth, maintain strong product knowledge, support operational efficiency, and collaborate across United Ag retail locations to ensure consistency and customer satisfaction. Customer Relationship Management & Sales Growth Build, maintain, and grow strong relationships with agricultural producers, ranchers, and retail customers. Conduct proactive sales outreach to current customers and prospective clients to grow department sales. Provide product recommendations and solutions that support customer operations while driving profitability for United Ag. Conduct on-site customer visits when needed to strengthen partnerships and identify operational needs. Maintain a high level of customer service both in-store and in the field. Inventory Management & Product Strategy Maintain appropriate inventory levels to ensure product availability while minimizing overstock and non-performing inventory. Monitor inventory trends, turnover rates, and department profitability. Identify and introduce new products that align with customer demand and market opportunities. Monitor slow-moving inventory and make recommendations for markdowns, transfers, or discontinuation when necessary. Coordinate feed ordering for bagged feed products and assist with bulk feed ordering as needed. Support efficient inventory movement across United Ag retail locations when appropriate. Operations & Store Support Ensure warehouse, feed storage areas, and outdoor workspaces remain clean, organized, and safe. Assist in coordinating bulk feed deliveries and operational logistics. Work collaboratively with other store managers and departments when operational support is needed. Support daily store operations during peak seasons, staffing shortages, or business demands. Maintain compliance with company safety procedures and operational standards. Financial Accountability Monitor department profitability and margin performance. Assist with managing department expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities. Support collection efforts related to customer accounts receivable when needed. Ensure proper documentation and inventory controls are followed. Leadership & Team Support Provide leadership, training, and daily direction to assigned staff. Support a team-focused environment that promotes accountability, professionalism, and strong customer service. Assist with onboarding and training new team members as needed. Communicate operational needs, customer feedback, and department opportunities to leadership. Additional Responsibilities Support other United Ag retail locations when operational needs arise. Assist during seasonal agricultural demands, emergency situations, or special projects. Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Manager or Retail Division Manager. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to lift and move feed products, inventory, and materials regularly Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to operate equipment as needed and safely navigate warehouse/store environments The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties.
