$70,000-$90,000 per year, depending on experience About the Position Open Air Company is looking for an experienced Shop Managerto oversee daily shop operations while providing hands-on CNC machine expertise. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader and strong problem solver who can manage production, operate and program CNC laser equipment, read technical drawings, and ensure jobs are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule. Key Responsibilities Operate and oversee CNC laser cutting machinery Set up, program, and troubleshoot CNC laser equipment Read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD files, and specifications Prepare files and layouts for CNC laser cutting Manage daily shop workflow, scheduling, and production priorities Monitor material usage and minimize waste Inspect finished parts for accuracy and quality Troubleshoot machine and production issues Coordinate with engineering, production, and management Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop environment Train and supervise shop personnel as needed Assist with estimating, material requirements, and job planning Ensure production deadlines and quality standards are met Take ownership of day-to-day shop operations and production Perform other shop-management and technical duties as needed Required Qualifications Hands-on experience operating CNC machines is required CNC laser experience is required Previous experience in a machine shop, fabrication shop, or manufacturing environment Experience with production planning and shop organization Ability to manage multiple jobs and priorities Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Strong mechanical and technical troubleshooting skills Good communication and leadership skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of CAD/CAM software and CNC programming Experience managing a fabrication or manufacturing shop Experience with CNC laser cutting, press brakes, saws, or other fabrication equipment Experience with quoting, estimating, and material purchasing Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD files Knowledge of OSHA and shop safety requirements What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is hands-on, dependable, technically skilled, and able to take ownership of the shop.
