Trucking Shop Supervisor Optimus Translog Services Laredo, TX Job Details Full-time From $26 an hour 21 hours ago Benefits Paid training Qualifications Computer operation Automotive electrical systems High school diploma or GED Maintenance management Delegation Full Job Description We're hiring a Mechanic Shop Supervisor to run the day-to-day of our diesel and trailer shop. You'll lead the mechanics who keep our semi-trucks, trailers, forklifts, and company vehicles on the road, and you'll own quality, safety, and getting work out on time. What you'll do Lead, mentor, and supervise mechanics in the diesel and trailer shops, plus the shop data entry clerk Assign and prioritize work based on skill and workload Inspect completed work so quality stays high Track maintenance intervals by date, hours, or mileage (PMs, grease/lube, alignments, overhead adjustments, DPF cleaning) Keep repairs to manufacturer specs, company standards, and safety rules Help diagnose tough mechanical issues and support road service calls with guidance and repair help (not vendor hiring) Train the team through paid training and vendor-provided training Maintain shop equipment and the company tool inventory (jacks, air guns, sockets, impacts, and the rest) Work with management, vendors, and other departments Report on shop performance, productivity, and problems Build a real safety culture in the shop What you bring High school diploma About 3 years as a diesel mechanic (preferred) Prior shop supervisory experience in trucking Solid knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, and heavy-duty truck brands Ability to lead a crew, assign work, and hold people accountable Awareness of DOT rules, safety standards, and environmental/emissions requirements Comfort with shop software, work orders, email, and basic Microsoft Office Valid driver's license (CDL, ASE, and DOT inspection certs are a plus) Diagnostic software familiarity (Volvo, Cummins, CARBS) The job in real life This is shop work. Steel-toe boots, eye and hearing protection. Standing, walking, and sitting through the day, plus a lot of computer time. Some outdoor work in bad weather. About 5% travel. Schedule is as operations need it, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
