Job Description

Lead Key Holder Grounded - 3.9 Mesquite, TX Job Details Full-time $12 - $17 an hour 20 hours ago Qualifications Customer communication Café experience Shift management High school diploma or GED Organizational skills Retail management Full Job Description Lead Key Holder | Full-Time Historic Downtown Mesquite, Texas Grounded is looking for someone who wants more than their next job. We're building a small, community-minded business designed around good hospitality, interesting things, and giving people a place to spend time together. As we prepare to open our first permanent location in Historic Downtown Mesquite, we're looking for a Lead Key Holder who wants to learn the business from the ground up and grow with it for the long term. This position begins as a hands-on leadership role working directly alongside Grounded's General Manager and Operations Manager. You'll learn every part of the operation: hospitality, lounge service, retail, inventory, plants, events, staffing, opening and closing procedures, and the systems that keep the business healthy. Over time, the intention is for the right person to take on increasing responsibility for the operation of Grounded. We are specifically looking for someone interested in building toward that future with us. For the right long-term fit, that path could eventually include responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the company and an opportunity for a small ownership stake in Grounded. Any ownership opportunity would be based on tenure, performance, leadership development, the needs of the company, and a separate mutually agreed-upon arrangement. What You'll Do Open and close Grounded independently and take ownership of the space during your shifts Lead the team when the General Manager or Operations Manager is not onsite Create a warm, relaxed, and thoughtful experience for guests Learn and eventually help manage Grounded's daily operating systems Operate the POS and follow cash-handling procedures Assist with coffee, tea, wine, beer, juices, food service, and lounge operations Learn our plants, minerals, food, beverages, and retail inventory well enough to confidently assist guests and staff Help care for plant inventory, including watering, pruning, fertilizing, cleaning, and monitoring plant health Receive, organize, merchandise, restock, and track inventory Maintain the cleanliness and functionality of the lounge, retail, service, and shared spaces Support events, community programming, private rentals, and partnerships Identify problems, make appropriate decisions, and communicate clearly with management Learn scheduling, purchasing, inventory management, vendor relationships, sales reporting, staffing, and other management responsibilities Help the team meet sales and operational goals without losing the hospitality and community focus that Grounded is built around Follow and reinforce food safety, alcohol service, workplace safety, and company procedures Who We're Looking For You're dependable. You notice things. You can make decisions without needing someone standing over your shoulder, but you also know when to ask for help. You care about people and take pride in doing things well. You're comfortable jumping between responsibilities because you understand that in a small business, "that's not my job" doesn't get us very far. Most importantly, you're looking for somewhere to invest your time that enriches your life today and can meaningfully shape your future. We don't expect you to arrive knowing how to run Grounded, although if you do we'd love to chat with you. Either way we expect you to want to learn. As trust and experience grow, we want to teach you more of the business, give you greater decision-making authority, and create a path toward meaningful leadership within the company. Qualifications 1-2+ years of hospitality, retail, café, bar, or customer service experience preferred Previous key holder, shift lead, supervisory, or management experience is a plus Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills Comfortable taking responsibility for a shift and making day-to-day decisions Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities Genuine interest in learning how a small business operates Comfortable working collaboratively with ownership, management, and staff Ability to follow schedules, meet deadlines, and work toward sales goals Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and repetitively bend, stoop, stand, and move throughout a shift High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug test Ability to obtain required food-handler and alcohol-service certifications Where This Can Go We aren't hiring this position simply to fill shifts. Our goal is to develop a person who understands Grounded deeply enough to eventually take responsibility for much of the company's day-to-day operation. That won't happen overnight. Leadership here will be earned through consistency, judgment, trust, initiative, and demonstrated care for the business, the team, and the community we serve. As Grounded grows, this role is intended to grow with it from Lead Key Holder, into greater management responsibility, and potentially into company leadership with a minority ownership opportunity for the right long-term person. We want someone who can look at Grounded several years from now and be proud that they helped build it. The Environment Grounded should feel relaxed. Working here still requires intention. We're building a workplace where people can communicate from a place of maturity and emotional health, take ownership of their responsibilities, have lives outside of work, and enjoy the people they work alongside. We care about balance, but balance doesn't mean indifference. This particular position carries real responsibility because the person in it could eventually become one of the people we trust most with Grounded. If you're looking for a place where you can settle in, learn, contribute, take on more, and help shape what a young company becomes, we'd like to meet you.
