An Assistant Retail Store Manager provides support to the Manager of a retail store, either an independent business or a store that is part of a large retail chain. May have primary responsibility for hiring and training retail sales staff. Reviews and monitors merchandise sales, inventory and prices, and directs advertising and promotions. Supervises sales, warehouse, cleaning, maintenance and security staff and prepares work schedules. Responsible for resolving customer complaints.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
Assist in the planning, organization, and direction of the activities of the Meat Department. Know and have the ability to cost out all material to determine proper retails. Possess sufficient knowledge and ability to teach others all fundamentals of meat production. This will include cutting, slicing, scaling, wrapping, and finishing. Assist in maintaining effective control of department labor and inventory in line with established budgets and guidelines. Assist in maintaining effective department security in compliance with company policy and directives. Maintain an awareness of competitive activity within the store marketing areas at all times as it relates to the Meat Department. Also, maintain awareness and concern for the company's interest and investment at all times through the regular practice of sound, honest judgment. Conduct the receiving, storing, pricing and merchandising of all meat products. Maintain adequate and appropriate department records at all times.

Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable store environment with the possibility of frequent exposure to hot or cold conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to grasp, push, pull, carry, stoop, twist, crouch, and reach; perform tasks requiring repetitive motion and eye, hand and foot coordination; hear and respond to customer inquiries. Also requires standing, walking and bending throughout the entire workday and the ability to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 30 pounds from location to location.
