Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Position Overview Ducworks is seeking an experienced Machine Shop Manager to lead our machining department in a high-mix, precision manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for leading employees, establishing production priorities, and ensuring the department meets its safety, quality, productivity, and delivery goals. The ideal candidate understands both people and production and can confidently manage changing priorities while developing a capable and accountable team. This person will be a visible, approachable leader who sets clear expectations, communicates effectively, and follows through on commitments. They should have enough machining knowledge to earn the team's trust and make informed decisions while remaining focused on leadership, coordination, and department performance Key Responsibilities Lead the daily operations and employees of the machine shop, including production priorities, schedules, workloads, and machine capacity. Establish expectations for safety, quality, productivity, attendance, and performance while coaching employees through regular feedback and evaluations. Coordinate workflow with programmers, project managers, and other departments, resolving issues that could affect production or delivery. Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and safe-work practices while evaluating equipment, tooling, maintenance, staffing, and other resource needs. Support recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, and employee development while building a capable and accountable team. Manage department spending within approved budgets, lead continuous-improvement efforts, and communicate department priorities, challenges, and results to company leadership. Qualifications At least three years of manufacturing management or supervisory experience, preferably within the machining industry. Experience in a high-mix manufacturing or job-shop environment, with practical knowledge of CNC machining and manufacturing processes. Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage changing priorities, make sound decisions, develop employees, and maintain accountability in a fast-paced environment. Mechanical aptitude and a working understanding of safety, preventive maintenance, and quality control. High school diploma or equivalent required; technical education or an equivalent combination of machining knowledge and relevant experience preferred. Aerospace, defense, precision-machining, or AS9100 experience is strongly preferred.
