Compensation determined based on experience and qualifications About Ginger's Closet & Disaster Relief Ginger's Closet & Disaster Relief is a community-focused nonprofit thrift store with a bigger purpose behind every sale. Revenue generated through our thrift store helps fund programs that provide emergency financial assistance, clothing assistance, disaster relief, and other support to individuals and families in our community. We are looking for a dependable, motivated, and people-oriented Thrift Store Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of Ginger's Closet. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in creating an organized and welcoming environment, and can confidently lead employees and volunteers while providing compassionate service to our customers and clients. The right person will be able to see what needs to be done, take initiative, solve everyday problems, and keep the store moving forward while understanding the mission behind the work. What You'll DoStore Operations & Sales Oversee the day-to-day operation of the thrift store Ensure opening and closing procedures are completed properly Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming store Oversee merchandising, displays, pricing, and sales-floor organization Monitor inventory and donation flow to help prevent processing backlogs Ensure donated merchandise is sorted, processed, priced, and moved to the sales floor efficiently Help identify opportunities to improve sales, merchandising, organization, and the overall shopping experience Oversee point-of-sale and cash-handling procedures Help plan and implement seasonal changes, promotions, and special projects Address day-to-day operational issues and communicate larger needs or concerns to the Executive Director Staff Leadership & Team Management Provide daily leadership, direction, and support to employees and volunteers Delegate responsibilities and ensure daily priorities are completed Assist with employee scheduling and store coverage Train and support new employees Set clear expectations and provide appropriate feedback and accountability Encourage teamwork and open, respectful communication Help create a workplace culture where employees and volunteers feel valued while understanding their responsibilities Recognize problems early and work toward practical solutions Lead by example and be willing to work alongside the team wherever needed Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement Volunteers are an important part of our organization and our ability to serve the community.

The Store Manager will:

Actively help recruit new volunteers from within the community Welcome, orient, and train new volunteers Help identify volunteer roles that match individual skills, interests, and abilities Coordinate and provide direction to volunteers during their shifts Build positive relationships that encourage volunteers to remain involved Help create an organized and rewarding volunteer experience Recognize and show appreciation for the time and skills volunteers contribute Maintain clear expectations and appropriate boundaries while creating an inclusive and welcoming volunteer environment Customer & Client Service Ginger's serves both thrift-store customers and clients accessing nonprofit assistance. The Store Manager will:

The ideal candidate is someone who notices what needs attention and takes initiative to address it. You should be comfortable balancing the people side of management with the practical responsibilities of keeping a busy thrift store organized and productive.

Candidates do not need to come from a traditional management background to be considered. Physical Requirements This is an active, hands-on position in a working thrift-store environment.

Applicants should be comfortable:

Standing and walking for extended periods Regularly bending, reaching, and moving throughout the store Sorting, organizing, and displaying merchandise Assisting with donated items Working around boxes, bags, clothing, furniture, and other donated merchandise Lifting and moving items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds, with assistance when appropriate Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals as appropriate.
