Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Operations Manager and Assistant Manager to lead our retail cannabis shop with enthusiasm and precision. This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on management to ensure smooth daily operations, exceptional customer service, and compliance with WSLCB. You will motivate and develop a high-performing team, optimize sales performance, and maintain operational excellence in a fast-paced, evolving industry. Your leadership will be instrumental in creating a welcoming environment that promotes responsible sales, safety, and community engagement. This will be our 4th location as we already have three other locations in Washington (2) and California (1). Duties Oversee daily store operations, ensuring compliance with all legal and safety regulations specific to the cannabis industry. Lead, train, and develop retail staff on customer service excellence, product knowledge, POS systems, inventory control, and sales techniques. Manage inventory levels through purchasing, stock replenishment, merchandising, and stock control to maximize sales opportunities. Supervise cashiering activities including cash handling, POS transactions, pricing accuracy, and store cash flow management. Coordinate shift schedules, assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide ongoing coaching to foster a motivated team environment. Implement effective sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets while maintaining high standards of customer service. Conduct regular audits of inventory and store procedures to ensure operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. Handle customer inquiries professionally via phone or in person; resolve issues promptly to enhance customer satisfaction. Support recruiting efforts by interviewing candidates, onboarding new employees, and fostering employee orientation programs. Assist in budgeting processes, payroll management, bookkeeping tasks, and recordkeeping to ensure financial accuracy. Utilize management skills to oversee merchandising displays, promotional activities, and store cleanliness for an inviting shopping experience. Qualifications Proven management experience within the retail industry; prior assistant manager or supervisory roles preferred. Strong knowledge of retail sales techniques, inventory management systems (POS), and operational procedures. Excellent communication skills Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience in team management and employee development. Familiarity with cash handling procedures, payroll processing, bookkeeping practices, and basic math skills. Ability to negotiate effectively with vendors or partners; experience in purchasing is advantageous. Knowledge of the cannabis industry regulations and product knowledge is preferred but not required; training will be provided. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving skills combined with a proactive approach to managing store operations.
