Job Description

Satara Home and Baby — Middleton, WI (in person) $18-$24 an hour | 3-4 days/week (fixed weekdays plus alternating/flexible weekends) | Training overlap with current manager Job Summary Our longtime store manager is heading toward retirement, and we're looking for someone ready to step into running our Middleton boutique day to day: the team, the inventory, the numbers, and our online presence. This is a real ownership role for the right person, with a hands-on training period alongside the manager you'd be replacing before he steps back. About Satara Home and Baby Satara is an independent organic bedding and baby boutique in Middleton, Wisconsin. We're an authorized retailer for UPPAbaby and Nuna strollers and car seats, and we carry organic mattresses from Obasan and Savvy Rest, Coyuchi towels and sheets, and customizable pillows recommended by physical therapists and chiropractors. Customers come to us for honest, knowledgeable guidance on safe, natural products for their homes and their babies, and our next manager needs to carry that same standard. About the role You'll be the person who makes sure the store runs well whether or not the owner is in the building: a well-run floor, a team that's supported, inventory that's ordered before it runs out, and a social presence that keeps bringing new customers in the door. Our current manager will work alongside you for a training period before stepping back, so you won't be figuring this out cold. What you'll own — team & operations Hire, schedule, and manage our part-time sales associate(s). Open and close the store, handle cash procedures, and hold keys and alarm codes. Keep the sales floor clean, well-merchandised, and easy to shop. Step in on the floor yourself: greet customers, answer product questions, and close sales. What you'll own — inventory & vendors Manage inventory levels and place restock orders before we run short. Maintain our vendor relationships (UPPAbaby, Nuna, Obasan, Savvy Rest, Coyuchi, and others), including working their portals and staying current on new product launches. Track what's selling and flag slow movers or opportunities to the owner. What you'll own — financials & reporting Monitor sales against targets and put together simple, clear reports for the owner. Use Excel and our inventory management software to track performance. Flag risks or opportunities early rather than waiting to be asked. What you'll own — marketing & social media Support our Instagram and Facebook presence end to end: planning the calendar, creating original content in-store, and incorporating content our vendors provide. Help create and maintain a social media calendar, working together with the owner rather than deciding content alone. Decide the right mix of organic content versus vendor-supplied assets, and keep posting consistent. Respond to comments and messages and represent our voice online. What we're looking for
Required:
Strong retail sales experience; prior management or supervisory experience is a plus but not required if you show real leadership potential. Comfortable with Excel and learning inventory management software. Experience creating content for Instagram and Facebook. Availability that fits three fixed weekdays plus alternating or flexible weekend shifts. Able to lift up to 30 pounds. Excellent communication skills, both with customers and reporting results to the owner. Must pass a background check and provide three references, at least two of them professional.
Preferred:
Experience with organic, baby, or home goods products. Demonstrated coaching or team leadership experience. Interest in growing with the business over the long term. Pay and schedule $18-$24 per hour, based on experience. 3-4 days per week: fixed weekdays plus alternating or flexible weekend coverage. Paid training period working directly alongside our current manager before he transitions out. Employee discount on everything in the store. How to apply Reply through this posting with your resume and a short note on your retail or management experience. If you manage a social media account (personal or for a past employer) you're proud of, include the handle.
Pay:
$18.00 - $24.00 per hour Expected hours: 18.0 - 24.0 per week
