Assistant Store Manager (ASM) New Arrival Convenience Stores - Sheboygan, Wisconsin Position Summary The Assistant Store Manager (ASM) supports the Store Manager in the day-to-day operation and performance of the New Arrival Convenience Store in Sheboygan. The ASM plays a key leadership role in maintaining strong store standards, developing associates, delivering excellent customer service, and executing company programs. The ASM is expected to lead by example, take ownership of assigned responsibilities, and be prepared to manage the store in the Store Manager's absence. This position is ideal for a hands-on retail leader who enjoys working with customers and employees while helping drive sales, profitability, and operational excellence. The ASM reports directly to the Store Manager. Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Development Support the Store Manager in leading, training, and developing store associates. Lead shifts and provide clear direction and accountability to team members. Assist with onboarding and training new employees. Coach associates on customer service, operational standards, merchandising, and company procedures. Help maintain a positive, professional, and accountable work environment. Serve as the manager on duty and assume store leadership responsibilities when the Store Manager is unavailable. Store Operations Support the daily operation of the store and ensure company standards are consistently executed. Perform opening and closing responsibilities as assigned. Oversee cash handling, register accountability, safe drops, and shift reconciliations. Assist with inventory control, ordering, receiving, stocking, and merchandising. Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked sales floor, restrooms, food-service areas, fuel island, and exterior. Ensure promotional programs, pricing, displays, and planograms are executed accurately. Identify maintenance or equipment issues and communicate them promptly to the Store Manager. Sales & Financial Performance Help drive inside sales, fuel sales, gross margin, and overall store profitability. Monitor store conditions and identify opportunities to improve sales and the customer experience. Assist with controlling labor, shrink, waste, and operating expenses. Ensure cash, lottery, tobacco, alcohol, and other high-risk categories are handled according to company procedures. Review store reports and performance results with the Store Manager and help execute improvement plans. Customer Service Provide fast, friendly, and professional service to every customer. Set the example for customer service expectations throughout the store. Resolve customer concerns professionally and escalate significant issues when appropriate. Ensure the store remains clean, safe, stocked, and ready for customers throughout every shift. Compliance & Risk Management Follow and enforce all company policies and operating procedures. Maintain compliance with applicable tobacco, alcohol, lottery, fuel, food-safety, environmental, and workplace-safety requirements. Ensure age-restricted products are sold only in accordance with company policy and applicable law. Follow cash-control, inventory-control, and loss-prevention procedures. Immediately report safety incidents, suspected theft, employee concerns, equipment problems, or other significant issues to the Store Manager. Vendor & Delivery Management Receive and verify vendor deliveries accurately. Ensure invoices, credits, and delivery documentation are properly completed and maintained. Work professionally with vendors, drivers, and company support teams. Ensure delivered merchandise is stocked, rotated, priced, and merchandised appropriately. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Previous retail or customer-service , or food-service experience preferred. Previous supervisory, shift-lead, or assistant management experience strongly preferred. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Comfortable working with POS systems, cash handling, inventory, and basic store reporting. Dependable and able to work independently when needed. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Reliable transportation required. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and stand or walk for extended periods. Pay:
$19.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 25.0 - 40.0 per week
