Job Description

The Rental Store Manager leads all day-to-day store activities to deliver a safe, efficient, and profitable rental operation. This person manages employees, maintains rental inventory, supports customers throughout the rental process, monitors revenue and costs, and ensures that equipment or merchandise is clean, available, properly maintained, and returned on time. Key Responsibilities Manage daily store opening and closing procedures, staffing, customer service, sales, and rental transactions. Hire, train, schedule, coach, and evaluate rental associates, drivers, technicians, and other store personnel. Ensure customers receive accurate product recommendations, rental terms, pricing, safety instructions, and return information. Resolve customer concerns, billing disputes, damaged-equipment issues, late returns, and service recovery situations professionally. Monitor inventory availability and condition; coordinate reservations, transfers, deliveries, pickups, repairs, and replacements. Inspect rental items before and after use to identify maintenance needs, damage, missing parts, or safety concerns. Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs with technicians, vendors, or service departments. Maintain compliance with company policies, rental agreements, safety procedures, insurance requirements, and applicable local regulations. Review daily sales, rental utilization, overdue accounts, deposits, refunds, discounts, and cash-handling records. Meet store revenue, utilization, customer satisfaction, and profitability targets. Develop local sales opportunities through customer follow-up, contractor or business relationships, community outreach, and promotional activity. Order supplies, parts, and inventory as needed while controlling expenses and minimizing losses. Prepare operational reports, staffing records, incident documentation, and performance updates for district or regional leadership. Maintain a clean, organized, secure, and professional store, yard, warehouse, or showroom environment. Qualifications Prior supervisory or team-lead experience preferred. Experience with point-of-sale systems, scheduling tools, inventory systems, and basic financial reporting. Valid driver's license; a clean driving record Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, or peak seasonal periods. Ability to lift and move inventory or equipment safely, where required by the business. Required Skills Strong leadership, coaching, and employee-development skills. Clear communication and conflict-resolution ability. Customer-focused sales and service mindset. Organization and attention to detail, especially for reservations, contracts, deposits, inspections, and returns. Basic budgeting, cash-handling, and profit-and-loss awareness. Inventory management and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of workplace and equipment safety practices. Ability to prioritize quickly in a busy environment with changing customer and operational needs. Performance Measures A Rental Store Manager may be evaluated on: Rental revenue and store profitability. Inventory utilization and availability. Customer satisfaction, repeat business, and online reviews. On-time deliveries, pickups, and reservation fulfillment. Employee retention, training completion, and team productivity. Damage, loss, theft, overdue-return, and maintenance costs. Safety performance and compliance results.
Pay:
$50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
