Job Description

Position Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and technically skilled Archery Department Lead / Lead Bow Technician to join our team. As the leader of our Archery Department, you will oversee all archery sales and service operations, guide customers and team members, perform professional bow setups and repairs, and drive department success. You will also support firearm sales at the gun counter when the bow technician and archery workload allows, applying your knowledge of firearms to assist customers during slower archery periods. Your primary focus will remain on archery leadership and technical expertise, with firearm support as a secondary responsibility to ensure smooth store operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide world-class customer service by assisting customers with bow and archery product selection, offering expert advice on gear, setup, and use, and ensuring their needs are fully met. Train and mentor new and existing team members on archery product knowledge, sales techniques, bow tuning, arrow building, and store policies to ensure top performance and customer satisfaction. Perform professional bow setups, tuning, repairs, stringing, cam timing, sight installation, arrow fletching, and custom builds to manufacturer specifications. Mount optics, accessories, and perform requested modifications on bows as needed. Manage the archery department, ensuring the sales floor and service area are well-organized, stocked, visually appealing, and ready for customers. Assist with department-specific inventory control, including restocking, organizing, and reporting product levels for all archery gear and consumables. When archery service and leadership duties allow, support gun sales by: Providing information, assistance, and direction to customers regarding firearms, optics, ammunition, suppressors, and accessories. Ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to firearm sales, including conducting background checks and accurately using electronic tracking software. Demonstrating firearm products effectively and helping meet overall department sales goals. Organizing and maintaining merchandise at the gun counter, replenishing products on shelves per merchandising guidelines, and maintaining accurate inventory. Locating, ordering, and tracking customer special orders from various suppliers for both archery and firearms. Drive archery sales goals by actively engaging customers, recommending complete setups, and promoting in-store promotions or seasonal sales. Maintain an in-depth understanding of our full archery product line (compound bows, traditional bows, crossbows, arrows, broadheads, sights, releases, targets, and accessories) as well as firearms, shooting, scopes, ammo, silencers, reloading, and accessories. Keep work areas clean, neat, well-stocked, and compliant with pricing and signage standards. Stay informed on the latest archery equipment, firearm technology, and industry trends while collaborating with the management team on department strategies and store-wide goals.
Qualifications:
Retail sales and bow technician experience, preferably in archery, hunting, or a related outdoor specialty field. Deep passion for archery and bowhunting, with hands-on experience shooting and maintaining compound, traditional, and crossbow equipment. Professional bow technician skills, including the ability to perform complete bow setups, tune, repair, and customize equipment safely and accurately. Knowledge of firearms, shooting sports, optics, ammunition, suppressors, reloading, and accessories required to support gun sales when needed. Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to meet or exceed sales goals. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail and service environment. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, and collaborate effectively as part of a team. Proficient with point-of-sale systems, inventory management, basic bow shop tools and equipment, Excel, Word, email, and internet. Must be 21 years of age or older and able to pass a federal background check; full compliance with all local, state, and federal firearm regulations is mandatory. Hunting experience and familiarity with Wyoming's outdoor spaces and the Wind River Mountain Range are preferred. Positive attitude, reliability, strong work ethic, and a genuine love for the outdoor lifestyle.
Pay:
$20.00 - $23.00 per hour
