Job Description

Position Summary:
Electro-Methods Inc. (EMI), a Stronvar Aerospace company, is seeking a highly technical and customer-focused Sales Engineer to support revenue growth, strengthen customer relationships, and ensure aligned technical communication between EMI and its aerospace OEM and Tier-1 customers. Reporting to the Customer Services Manager , the Sales Engineer plays a critical role in developing quotations, supporting customer programs, assessing manufacturability, and coordinating cross-functional communication with Engineering, Operations, and Quality. This position ensures EMI delivers competitive proposals and provides exceptional customer service throughout the bid-to-production lifecycle. Key Responsibilities 1. Customer Relationship Management & Support Serve as a key technical and commercial interface for assigned customer accounts. Support the Customer Services Manager in building strong relationships with customer engineering, supply chain, and program leaders. Assist with customer visits, technical reviews, capability presentations, and ongoing communication. Respond promptly to customer inquiries and coordinate internal teams for effective resolution. 2. Quoting, Estimating & Technical Proposal Development Lead or support the end-to-end quotation process Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to evaluate manufacturability and develop competitive proposals. Interpret aerospace drawings, specifications, and technical data packages (TDPs). Technical data is merged into EMI two databases Maintain organized tracking of quotes, status updates, and deadlines. 3. Program & Project Coordination Support new part introductions (NPI) from quote acceptance through production kickoff. Facilitate alignment between Engineering, Operations, and Customer Services for smooth transitions from quoting to production. Participate in kickoff meetings, customer reviews, and internal readiness discussions. Maintain visibility into project milestones and provide customer-facing updates when required. 4. Market & Competitive Insights Gather customer feedback regarding pricing, lead times, quality performance, and emerging needs. Work with Cost and Estimating Manager Support the Customer Services Manager by providing insights on industry trends, competitor capabilities, and customer program forecasts. Monitor changes in customer demand that may impact EMI's business pipeline. 5. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Operations and Engineering to validate cost drivers, manufacturability, tooling requirements, and capacity constraints. Coordinate with Quality and Supply Chain teams to address technical issues, corrective actions, or documentation requirements. Participate in SIOP, demand planning, and long-term strategic planning discussions as needed. Support EMI's Daily Management System (DMS) by participating in daily morning meetings, top ten and shipping reports along with providing updates on quotes, customer priorities, and risks, and ensuring alignment between Customer Services, Engineering, and Operations. Identify, organize, and track all customer-related technical materials (drawings, TDPs, specifications, revisions) to ensure accurate, timely flow of information that supports manufacturability assessments, quoting, and smooth NPI-to-production transitions. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field, OR equivalent aerospace manufacturing experience Minimum 8-10 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, engineering, or technical customer-facing roles. Strong understanding of precision machining, fabrication, GD&T, aerospace drawings, and AS9100 requirements. Proven experience technical analysis, or proposal development. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders. U.S. Person required (ITAR environment). Preferred Experience supporting major aerospace OEMs/Tier-1 suppliers. Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and cost-estimation tools. Exposure to special processes (NDT, coatings, heat treat, etc.). Prior experience in Sales Engineering, Estimating, Program Management, or Manufacturing Engineering. Working Conditions Office and shop-floor environment with regular interaction with Engineering, Operations, and Quality. Occasional travel to customer sites and industry events may be required.
