Industry Manager at James Talent Industry Manager at James Talent in Lenexa, Kansas Posted in 3 days ago.
Type:
full-time ???? Industry Manager (Bulk Material Handling
- Process Industries) ?
???
Lenexa / Kansas
City
- Hybrid ???? $90,000
- 110,000 + Commissions (
OTE:
$180,000+) Ever quoted a multimillion-dollar custom system, then stuck around to make sure it actually got built right? That's this role. I'm working with an established manufacturer of bulk material handling systems for process industries, looking for an Industry Manager to own the strategy, growth, and customer relationships for one of their key industry segments. This role is opening up as part of a planned succession; the current Industry Manager is retiring in the next 2-3 years, and you'll step in with a running start: an existing book of accounts, including house accounts, handed to you as part of the transition. That gives you a genuinely rare mix
- immediate revenue and established relationships from day one, alongside real runway to build out your own space in the segment before you're running it solo.
You'll be the connective tissue between engineering, sales, and operations for your segment.
What You'll Do:
Owning the sales and marketing strategy for your industry segment, including short
- and long-term growth plans and contribution margin targets Taking on an established book of accounts
- including house accounts
- as part of a planned succession, while building out your own Directing and coordinating the sales team to deliver consistent, measurable results across your segment Building long-term customer relationships through regular face-to-face contact
- this is a relationship business, not a quote-and-forget one Pulling in the right internal resources to scope, quote, and present custom bulk material handling solutions that match customer specs and budgets Staying engaged after the sale
- attending kickoff meetings, supporting project execution, and following up to ensure customer satisfaction Identifying and developing key accounts, and building the sales processes and account management playbook that make the segment run efficiently Spotting opportunities for new, customer-driven product development
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's degree, or 3+ years of industry-related technical sales experience (equipment, capital projects, or engineered systems). Experience or exposure to pneumatic conveying, bulk solids handling, dust collection/baghouse systems, or adjacent process equipment is a strong plus Comfort reading blueprints and drawings, with enough technical fluency to translate engineering realities into customer value A track record of managing a pipeline, forecasting, and closing complex, long-cycle deals
- CRM discipline included Willingness to travel regularly for customer site visits (approximately 25-30%)
Why This Opportunity Stands Out:
This is a rare seat for someone who's grown up as an application or sales engineer inside an equipment manufacturer: quoting custom systems, standing at a whiteboard with a customer's engineering team, then handing the win off to a project team and staying close enough to make sure it lands. If you've sold pneumatic conveying, filtration, powder & bulk solids, or other engineered process equipment, you already speak this language. What sets this one apart is the succession structure, you're not starting from zero. You'll inherit an established book of accounts and relationships from a retiring Industry Manager over the next 2-3 years, giving you a running start on revenue and credibility while you build your own footprint in the segment at the same time.
