Metal stamping, fabrication, sales engineeringPosition OverviewWe are seeking a Sales Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team that combines technical engineering expertise with customer-facing sales acumen. This role is responsible for developing and executing strategies to win business, support customers through the quotation and costing process, and ensure that engineered solutions particularly in metal stamping and tooling are manufacturable, cost-effective, and aligned with customer requirements. The ideal candidate will bridge sales and engineering, drive process improvements, and build strong customer relationships to grow revenue and margin.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead and mentor a team of sales engineers and application engineers to support sales campaigns, technical proposals, and customer engagements.

Collaborate with sales, engineering, manufacturing, and operations to develop competitive quotes that accurately reflect cost, lead time, and manufacturability for metal stamping, tooling, and related processes.

Own the technical aspects of the quoting process, including cost modeling, tooling estimates, material selection, and process feasibility reviews.

Engage directly with customers to understand requirements, present engineered solutions, address technical questions, and build long-term relationships.

Establish and standardize processes for RFQ handling, design-for-manufacturing reviews, and change management to reduce cycle time and improve quote win rates.

Work with product engineering and manufacturing to drive continuous improvement in stamping processes, tooling design, and production efficiency to lower costs and improve quality.

Analyze win/loss data and customer feedback to refine pricing strategies, proposal content, and technical differentiators.

Coordinate cross-functional teams during new product introductions (NPIs) to ensure seamless transfer from quotation through production ramp-up.

Develop training programs and hiring plans to grow the teams technical and commercial capabilities.

Represent the company in technical meetings, trade shows, and customer workshops to promote capabilities and capture new opportunities.

QualificationsExperience in sales engineering, applications engineering, or technical sales within metalworking, stamping, or tooling industries, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

Proven experience preparing and reviewing cost estimates, quotes, and proposals for stamped metal parts and tooling.

Strong technical knowledge of metal stamping processes, tooling design, materials, and manufacturing constraints.

Demonstrated ability to work with customers to translate requirements into engineered solutions and negotiate technical and commercial terms.

Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and customers.

Experience implementing processes for RFQ management, DFM reviews, and cross-functional collaboration to shorten quote cycles and improve margins.

Proficiency with CAD tools and cost-modeling spreadsheets; familiarity with ERP/CRM systems used in quoting and order management.

Results-oriented, customer-focused, with strong leadership and team development capabilities.
