Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Outside Sales Representative to join our team and help eligible individuals and families learn about and apply for Lifeline, a government-supported telecommunications assistance program . In this role, you will engage with prospective customers through community outreach, door-to-door interactions, and other approved channels to explain the program, answer questions, and assist customers with the enrollment process. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, trustworthy communicator who can explain program requirements accurately, protect customer privacy, and provide a professional customer experience. This is an opportunity to help communities access affordable telecommunications services while maintaining the highest standards of honesty, transparency, and customer care. Duties Identify and engage potential customers through door-to-door outreach, community events, networking, and other approved outreach methods. Explain the Lifeline program accurately, including eligibility requirements, enrollment procedures, and applicable service limitations. Help customers understand the application process and assist with completing enrollment through authorized channels. Never promise approval, benefits, devices, or services unless the customer has been properly determined to qualify. Answer customer questions clearly and honestly and refer customers to official resources when additional verification is required. Handle customer personal information responsibly and only collect information that is necessary for the authorized enrollment or service process. Protect sensitive customer information and never disclose it to unauthorized individuals or use it for purposes unrelated to the customer's service. Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, follow-ups, and enrollment activities using approved CRM systems. Follow all company policies and applicable program requirements regarding customer privacy, data security, advertising, and enrollment practices. Provide professional follow-up and customer support throughout the enrollment and service process. Work with management and outreach teams to improve community engagement and educate potential customers about available telecommunications assistance. Escalate questionable, unusual, or potentially fraudulent situations to the appropriate supervisor or compliance team rather than providing an unsupported answer. Qualifications Previous experience in outside sales, community outreach, customer service, telecommunications, or a related field is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly when speaking with customers in person. Ability to explain program requirements and procedures in a simple, accurate, and easy-to-understand manner. Strong customer-service mindset with an emphasis on honesty, professionalism, and respect. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive customer information responsibly. Comfortable using CRM software and other systems for maintaining accurate customer records. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage leads, follow-ups, and customer interactions. Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities. Ability to work independently in a field-based environment while following company policies and compliance requirements.
